Lucasfilm has announced that a new trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu is coming very soon. This follows recent discussions about how the movie would be promoted. The studio says the new trailer will give fans a better preview of what to expect when the series returns.
The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer arrives tomorrow
A new trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu is coming out tomorrow, as announced by the official Star Wars account on X. The post has already been viewed 1.5 million times. This announcement follows a brief 15-second teaser that gave fans a sneak peek at some new scenes. Lucasfilm has confirmed the trailer’s release.
The sneak peek features moody images of X-wing ships and an astromech droid, followed by Din Djarin scolding Grogu for interrupting the launch of their new ship, the Razor Crest. This clip comes after the recent TV spot shown during the Super Bowl, and sources say the full trailer will include actual scenes from the movie.
The Super Bowl ad came out nine days prior and quickly gained a lot of attention online. On the official Star Wars YouTube channel, it received around 34,000 dislikes, compared to 18,000 likes. This is the first Star Wars film to be shown in cinemas since ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ came out in 2019.
As a huge fan, I’m excited to see Jon Favreau back in the director’s chair for this one! He’s also producing, alongside some seriously talented people like Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce. And the music is in great hands with Ludwig Göransson – I loved his work on The Mandalorian, so I have high hopes for the score here too.
At a recent question-and-answer session at New York Toy Fair, Jon Favreau explained that Star Wars and its toys have always been closely connected. He noted that fans would see the movies in theaters, then continue the story through play with the toys, essentially re-enacting their favorite scenes, even starting with early promotional items.
He explained that the show, The Mandalorian, deliberately includes references to vintage Kenner toys. Sometimes, these toys depicted things not actually seen in the films, like a peculiar troop transport with standing Stormtroopers. The creators felt it was important to find a way to incorporate these unusual elements into the show and make them visually appealing.
With the Empire defeated but its leaders still at large, the New Republic asks Din Djarin and Grogu to take on a new assignment.
The film opens exclusively in theaters on May 22, 2026.
