As a huge *Star Wars* fan, I’m so excited to hear that Din Djarin and Grogu are heading to the big screen again! The new movie, slated for 2026, is going to see them team up with some interesting new faces – Sigourney Weaver as a New Republic leader and Jeremy Allen White as Jabba the Hutt’s son! But, I was a little disappointed to find out that Katy O’Brian’s character, Elia Kane, won’t be in it. It just makes me hope even more that we eventually get a fourth season of *The Mandalorian* to continue her story.
During a recent interview about her upcoming film, *Queens of the Dead* (releasing later this month), actress O’Brian – who is hoping to work with Dave Bautista – revealed she wasn’t involved in *The Mandalorian & Grogu*. When asked by Polygon if she’d been contacted about returning as Elia Kane, she responded:
Honestly, I have no idea if there will be a fourth season. I do know a movie is planned, but I won’t be involved in it.
Elia Kane first appeared in Season 2 of *The Mandalorian* as an Imperial officer working for Moff Gideon. After being captured with Gideon, she reappeared in Season 3, forming a connection with Dr. Penn Pershing while on Coruscant. Despite this, she ultimately betrayed Pershing by turning him in to the New Republic, and then secretly prevented his memory from being completely erased. Throughout all of this, she continued to work for Gideon, secretly operating within the New Republic’s program for former Imperials.
Moff Gideon was killed in the final episode of *The Mandalorian* Season 3 when Bo-Katan Kryze defeated him in a fiery battle. His backup clones were also destroyed. This leaves Elia Kane without a leader. It’s unclear if she’ll now serve under a different Imperial officer, and we won’t find out in the upcoming *The Mandalorian & Grogu* movie. Currently, the only Imperial character confirmed to appear in the movie is an unnamed Imperial Warlord played by Jonny Coyne.

Disney+ offers a streaming home for all things *Star Wars*. You can subscribe for as little as $9.99 per month with ads (price increases to $11.99/month starting October 21, 2025). An ad-free plan costs $15.99 monthly ($18.99/month after October 21, 2025), or you can save 16% by paying $159.99 for a full year. See the deal here.
I’m really hoping Disney+ gives the green light to *The Mandalorian* Season 4! I’d especially love to see what happens with Elia Kane – her story feels unfinished and deserves to be explored further. Plus, it’s been amazing watching Katy O’Brian’s career take off since joining the show! She’s been in some huge movies like *Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania* (apparently, that was a bit of a whirlwind!), *Twisters*, and *Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning*. If Season 4 *does* happen, I have a feeling Elia could really step up and become a key player in that galaxy far, far away.
As the May 22, 2026 release of *The Mandalorian & Grogu* approaches, we’ll be getting to know more of the characters who will appear in it. Besides *Queens of the Dead*, actress Katy O’Brian is also starring in a new movie adaptation of *The Running Man*, which comes out November 14th.
