The Rohirrim War movie hit theaters on December 13 and became available for digital purchase only two weeks afterwards. Unfortunately, it didn’t gather more than $10 million at the box office, which might have led to its early release online. Opinions from both fans and critics have been divided; the animation currently holds an average “mixed” Metascore rating on TopMob’s sister site, Metacritic.

The anime production company Sola Digital Arts is responsible for crafting “The War of the Rohirrim,” a film that unfolds 183 years prior to the narrative of The Lord of the Rings. This production draws creative influence from Peter Jackson’s cherished trilogy of movies. As mentioned in an appendix of The Lord of the Rings, this animated tale primarily revolves around the kingdom of Rohan and its leader, Helm Hammerhand – also known as the inspiration for Helm’s Deep – and their battle against the Dunlending marauders from Dunedain.

If you’re planning to catch The War of the Rohirrim in the theater and would like to revisit The Lord of the Rings first, consider this: Amazon has a fantastic deal on their 4K Blu-ray box set. Originally priced at $90, it’s now only $55! Additionally, you can grab the 4K Blu-ray box set of The Hobbit Trilogy for just $59 (previously $90). Enjoy your movie marathon!

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I learned that on January 7, Walmart rolled out an exclusive steelbook version of The Fellowship of the Ring! I had been waiting for this moment for a while, and when they sold out of preorders, I thought all hope was lost. But luckily, they restocked the film for just $35! This steelbook looks eerily similar to the one included in last year’s reprint of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Limited Edition Steelbook Collection – a set that also sold out immediately. It remains to be seen if Walmart will release separate editions of The Two Towers and The Return of the King, but for now, I’m just grateful to have secured this amazing collectible!

This month sees the debut of the Barad-dur Lego set, a colossal 5,471-piece creation, at major retailers. Originally unveiled last year as an exclusive at the Lego Store, this $460 set allows you to construct Sauron’s famous fortress, complete with The Eye of Sauron perched atop the 32-inch Lego tower. Barad-dur now stands alongside the equally expansive Rivendell model as the only two Lord of the Rings themed Lego sets currently being manufactured.
