Disney has found its live-action Rapunzel and Flynn Rider! Teagan Croft, known for playing Raven in the series Titans, and Milo Manheim have been cast as the leads in the upcoming Tangled remake. Croft also previously appeared on the Australian show Home and Away, joining the ranks of actors like Chris Hemsworth and Isla Fisher who got their start on the soap opera. The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday.
Milo Manheim is well known for playing Zed, the lead zombie, in Disney Channel’s popular Zombies movies. He also starred alongside Liz Gillies in an Off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors, and is the son of actress Camryn Manheim. Meanwhile, Michael Gracey, the director of The Greatest Showman and the 2024 film Better Man, is set to direct the live-action adaptation of Tangled. Kristin Burr (known for Freaky Friday and Cruella) is producing, and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) is writing the screenplay.
Honestly, the casting for the live-action Rapunzel has been wild! Everyone had opinions – Deuxmoi was rooting for Sabrina Carpenter, and fans were really hoping to see Keke Palmer take on the role, even suggesting she rock 100-foot box braids, which I thought was awesome. And get this – Zachary Levi, who killed it as Flynn Rider in the animated movie, publicly campaigned for Timothée Chalamet to play the part! Talk about a wishful thought, but I kind of love it!
