The Live Action Aeon Flux Film Is Getting A 4K Blu-Ray For Its 20th Anniversary

Aeon Flux was a popular animated series on MTV in the 1990s that helped the network expand beyond music videos. Known for its unique animation and strange, futuristic stories, it gained a dedicated following. In 2005, it was adapted into a live-action movie starring Charlize Theron. While the film isn’t as highly regarded as the original series, it remains a strong sci-fi offering. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the movie is now being released on 4K Blu-ray with special steelbook packaging. Aeon Flux is a futuristic story set in a world devastated by a deadly virus that wiped out most of humanity. Centuries later, the survivors built the walled city of Bregna, ruled by a council of scientists led by Trevor Goodchild. A shadowy group recruits the skilled warrior Aeon Flux to kill Goodchild, but as she carries out her mission, she uncovers a complex conspiracy that reveals the truth about Bregna.

Aeon Flux: The Complete Animated Collection

The Aeon Flux movie doesn’t live up to the quality of the original animated series. If you’re interested in seeing the source material, you can find the Aeon Flux: The Complete Animated Series Collection Director’s Cut on DVD at Amazon for $13.51 (originally $17). This set includes every episode, plus extras like commentary from the show’s creator, Peter Chung, behind-the-scenes features, concept art, and some early TV shorts.

Later this year, several older movies will be re-released on special edition 4K Blu-ray. This includes horror films from the 2000s like *The Devil’s Rejects*, ’90s comic book movies such as *The Mask* and *Spawn*, and beloved musicals like *Rocky Horror Picture Show* and *The Sound of Music*.
