The Last Of Us Series May End After Four Seasons, Says HBO Boss

After a break of almost two years between seasons, “The Last of Us” is coming back to HBO and Max soon, starting its adaptation of “The Last of Us Part II”. Although the show has been very popular with both audiences and critics, HBO Drama Executive Vice President Francesa Orsi doesn’t think that “The Last of Us” will last any longer than four seasons.

Orsi hinted at Deadline that the series might span over four distinct parts, though he didn’t want to commit to that. However, it appears the story will unfold across one season initially, followed by two additional seasons thereafter, bringing the series to a close.

Craig Mazin, the co-creator and showrunner of The Last of Us, previously mentioned that the series could span anywhere from three to five seasons. Given that Season 2 will consist of just seven episodes, it’s likely that the story from The Last of Us Part II will require multiple seasons to fully unfold. As for The Last of Us Part III, there have been no official announcements about its release or whether it will be incorporated into the show. At this point, it seems that showrunners Mazin and Neil Druckmann haven’t made plans beyond the events depicted in the current games.

Mazin and Druckmann recently alerted fans that Season 2 might incorporate cut scenes from the game initially deemed excessively violent. Moreover, they highlighted that the sequence of events in the series may not strictly adhere to the game’s chronology.

As an eager fan, I can’t help but share the exciting news that The Last of Us Season 2 is set to debut on HBO and Max in April! While they haven’t given us a definite release date just yet, I can hardly contain my anticipation for this highly-anticipated series continuation.
