I just saw the new footage from Avengers: Doomsday, and I’m so excited! It looks like they’re setting up a really important meeting for Black Panther, the King of Wakanda. Even more interestingly, it seems like this will lead to a surprising team-up, hinting at connections between different universes – the multiverse is really starting to come together!
M’Baku and Shuri meet The Thing in new Avengers: Doomsday teaser
The latest trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is now showing in cinemas before screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. The trailer features characters from Wakanda – Namor, Namora, Shuri, and King M’Baku – with Shuri delivering a voiceover saying, “I’ve lost everyone that matters to me. A King has his duties to prepare our people for the afterlife. I have mine.” A notable moment shows King M’Baku meeting Ben Grimm, introducing himself as “King M’Baku, of Wakanda,” to which Grimm simply replies, “Ben. Yancy Street, between Broome and Grand.”
The preview ends with Shuri striking the “Wakanda Forever” pose as she gets on a ship. A message then appears stating that both the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four will be in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” movie. This seems to be the first time the Fantastic Four and Wakandans have officially crossed over in a film. While only Ben Grimm is seen in the preview, the rest of the Fantastic Four team is expected to appear later on.
The latest preview continues to suggest that different universes will collide, similar to what was shown in earlier trailers for Avengers: Doomsday. The appearance of the Fantastic Four could tie into the story of Doctor Doom, who is rumored to be asking for their assistance with an approaching crisis. This hints at a large-scale threat and storyline that brings multiple universes together.
I’m hearing some exciting buzz that Damson Idris might be taking on the role of the new Black Panther! The folks over at The Geeky Cast are reporting he’ll be spending a lot of time filming at Pinewood Studios this year, supposedly working on several movies as the character. It’s just a rumor for now, but it’s definitely got me hyped!
Idris Elba previously attended Vogue World: Hollywood with Angela Bassett and Danai Gurira, which sparked rumors about him potentially being involved with the Black Panther franchise. When asked about these rumors at the TIME100 Next Gala, he jokingly denied any knowledge of them, saying, “No, no. I don’t know anything about it [Laughs].”
The movie Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
