A fourth Jumanji movie is now in production, and the first images have fans buzzing about a potentially game-changing plot twist. Filming began last week, and the initial photo shows Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black reprising their roles while standing on a city street, suggesting the game might be breaking into the real world. Alongside the excitement for the new film, fans are also touched by Dwayne Johnson’s heartfelt tribute to the late Robin Williams.
The Moana star added an emotional layer when he posted a behind-the-scenes video to his official Instagram, paying tribute to Robin Williams, who starred in the original 1995 film. Johnson has spoken before about how important Williams’ performance was to him, and now he is honoring that legacy by wearing a necklace adorned with the OG flick’s prop dice as the final chapter begins.
He posted a video of himself driving across the parking lot in costume, and people online immediately responded to it.

Dwayne Johnson has shared that the latest film is being shot in Los Angeles, which he feels is the perfect location for the series’ grand conclusion. The fourth movie will wrap up the franchise next Christmas, and his personal connection to the project aligns with the exciting new path the story is taking. With the main actors back together, a plot that appears to be entering the real world, and the actor known as Smashing Machine promising a satisfying ending, the franchise is poised to finish with something memorable, touching, and deserving of everything that’s come before.
Sony has officially greenlit another Jumanji movie, quietly adding it to their 2026 release schedule last month. Now, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has shared the first updates, including footage from the set, after a period of silence. Johnson announced production had begun by posting a photo of the cast – including Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan – during a script read-through. The currently untitled Jumanji sequel is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 11, 2026.
It’s been a while since the last Jumanji movie, Jumanji: The Next Level, came out in 2019. That film ended with a suggestion that the game world was starting to affect the real world, similar to the original movie with Robin Williams. The new Jumanji 4 seems to be exploring that idea and returning to the franchise’s origins, and I’m really looking forward to seeing Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in it.
