XSEED Games recently unveiled a fresh trailer for the upcoming game titled “The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy–“. The video features 12 unique characters from the game, all belonging to the Special Defense Unit, prior to its release in April.

XSEED Games, a subsidiary of Marvelous USA, Inc., known for its independent spirit, has disclosed the initial English information about the cast of characters in The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-. They unveiled 12 characters belonging to the Special Defense Unit, a team responsible for safeguarding the school for 100 consecutive days. This character reveal is part of the global “1148 Days to Launch” campaign that includes daily updates such as announcements, videos, and more, leading up to the game’s launch on April 24, 2025.

Hailing from the creative geniuses behind Danganronpa (Kazutaka Kodaka) and Zero Escape series (Kotaro Uchikoshi), The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- blends adventure and tactical role-playing game elements within a gripping, suspenseful narrative. This captivating tale steers players towards numerous potential tragic conclusions. The initial English unveiling showcases the first 12 students of the Special Defense Force, who are seen attending classes and joining forces with protagonist Takumi Sumino in this intriguing journey.

Special Defense Unit Characters

The protagonist of this narrative is Takumi Sumino, often referred to as an “everyman.” Hailing from an ordinary family and attending an average high school, his life is not extraordinary in any way. However, when it comes to matters that require his protection, he shows incredible determination and courage, giving it his all.

Eito Aotsuki, also known as “Voice of Reason,” is a loyal friend and confidant of Takumi. Eito harbors strong emotions for those around him, and isn’t hesitant to express them, even if they come off as sentimental. Despite being frail and ill since childhood, his sharp intellect could be the key asset that the team requires to navigate through the war successfully.

Darumi Amemiya, or the “Drama-Seeking Gothic Enthusiast,” refers to a young lady renowned for her emotional fluctuations and fascination with anything somber and melancholic. She is deeply immersed in killing-game narratives and exhibits no apprehension regarding mortality. If she were to meet her end, she yearns for it to be as theatrical and extravagant as life itself permits.

Ima Tsukumo, or “Twin – Big Brother”, is one member of a pair of twins. Despite appearing carefree and jovial, there’s a subtle undercurrent of something ominous about him. His thoughts are primarily centered on safeguarding his sister, Kako. If anyone or anything poses a threat to her wellbeing, Ima will respond with swift and unyielding retribution.

Twin – Younger Sister: This refers to one of a pair of twins born at slightly different times. The younger sister, whom we call Kako, often seems lost in thought, but she also possesses a sharp intellect and an insatiable curiosity. Kako is drawn to mystery stories and harbors a dream of becoming a private investigator as an adult.

Kurara Oosuzuki / “The Rich Girl Among the Elite” – Descendant of one of the most affluent families in human history, she carries herself with an air of superiority and arrogance. She’s often seen wearing a peculiar tomato mask, concealing her true identity.

Yugamu Omokage / ‘Teenage Assassin’ – A Remarkable Youth Whose Killing Career Preceded the War: Unlike his family of assassins, Yugamu believes that killing should be performed with affection. He derives pleasure from cruel practices such as torture, dissection, and other morbid pastimes.

A youthful samurai named Kyoshika Magadori, who is completely oblivious to contemporary ways, stands out. This individual has no idea about multiplication tables and has not been taught them at all. She possesses an unusually strong bond with her katana, the Sacred Jumonji Sword.

As a gamer, I might describe myself as “Gaku Maruko,” the self-centered mood maker. True to my desires, I often prioritize myself, sometimes to a fault, which can make me appear cowardly. Yet, there’s an undeniable charm in my straightforward pettiness that leaves others finding it hard to harbor ill feelings towards me. When I open up and care for others, I surprise them with my thoughtful and nurturing nature.

Meet Tsubasa Kawana, affectionately known as “Star Mechanic.” This youthful lady boasts an impressive understanding of machinery and their inner workings. She’s vibrant and full of life, but tends to struggle under pressure. When she feels anxious, she may experience nausea, which can be quite challenging for her.

Hiruko Shizuhara, affectionately known as the “Ice Queen,” serves as the Commander of the Special Defense Unit. With an icy elegance that borders on ruthlessness, she is unafraid to express her thoughts openly, even if it may provoke discomfort among others. In combat, her actions mirror her demeanor; she exhibits no mercy, finding a twisted satisfaction in dismantling invaders with brutal efficiency.

The leader in charge at Sirei / Special Defense Unit is the Commanding Officer. In simpler terms, this could be described as the head honcho of Last Defense Academy. Alternatively, you might picture a small, peculiar robot giving orders to the members of the Special Defense Unit. Under his guidance, Takumi and the others are tasked with eliminating the enigmatic invaders.
