A sequel to Sydney Sweeney’s hit film, The Housemaid, is in the works and will reportedly feature a returning cast member. The Housemaid unexpectedly became a major success in December 2025, earning over $350 million despite a small $35 million budget. As a result, Sydney Sweeney is now leading her own film franchise. According to Deadline, Lionsgate is planning to begin production on the sequel in 2026, bringing back director Paul Feig, writer Rebecca Sonnenshine, and Sweeney herself. Co-star Michele Morrone is also expected to return.
A deleted scene from the movie The Housemaid has surfaced, showing what happened after Andrew Winchester’s funeral. In the scene, Enzo (Michele Morrone) approaches Millie (Sydney Sweeney) and hints at a return in the next movie, telling her he’ll “always be around, creeping around.” This alternate ending suggests Enzo will play a role in the sequel.

The cut scene would have reintroduced Enzo, paving the way for his return in future installments. After being fired in a fit of anger by Andrew, he was absent for the rest of the story, including the climactic showdown.
Readers who enjoyed The Housemaid novels will be happy to hear Millie and Enzo are returning in the next book. However, the story will focus on a new, troubled family – the Garricks – and unfortunately, Amanda Seyfried won’t be back as Nina Winchester this time around.

Enzo’s Role in The Housemaid Sequels Explained
Many viewers know that the movie The Housemaid is based on a popular 2022 novel by Freida McFadden. The book did so well that it spawned two follow-up novels, The Housemaid’s Secret and The Housemaid is Watching. A short story called The Housemaid’s Wedding was also released, fitting in the timeline between the second and third books.
Enzo is a key character in all four books of The Housemaid series, evolving from a secondary character to a main one. He teams up with the housemaid, who has a dark secret, to help women escape abusive relationships, and they also develop a romantic connection.
The book version of The Housemaid significantly altered the ending, hinting at Millie’s future work helping women escaping abusive relationships and revealing her connection with Enzo. The groundskeeper, Enzo, plays a much more prominent part in the book than in the movie, where he was mostly kept in the background. However, the upcoming sequel might give him a bigger role on screen as well.
