IO Interactive, the developer of the Hitman series, hasn’t revealed what they have planned for Agent 47’s future. However, they’ve confirmed that Hitman 3 – now called Hitman: World of Assassination after a 2023 update – isn’t the last game in the series. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak says they’ll share more news about the future of the series, including details on the new co-op mode for World of Assassination, when the time is right.
Abrak confirmed to Variety that more Hitman games are planned. While they’re focusing on getting through this year, they’ll share news about a co-op mode for Hitman next year, which they believe will add exciting new gameplay elements to the World of Assassination. After that, they’ll begin discussing the next full installment in the Hitman series.
I’m so hyped for the new James Bond game, 007: First Light, coming out in March 2026! It’s been great seeing IO Interactive keep supporting Hitman: World of Assassination while they work on it, and their latest update is just wild. They’ve teamed up with Eminem for a new Elusive Target mission where you play as Agent 47 and have to… well, take out Slim Shady! Apparently, Eminem himself will be feeding Agent 47 intel, alongside Diane Burnwood. Seriously, how cool is that?
IO Interactive is also developing a third project, a multiplayer game currently known as Project Fantasy. While not officially announced, IO Interactive CEO Peter Abrak described it as a very ambitious undertaking for the studio.
