Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan are returning for another comedic adventure in *The Family Plan 2*. The streaming service has just shared a first glimpse of the sequel and announced its release date.
Apple has released initial photos from *The Family Plan 2*, showcasing Mark Wahlberg as Dan Morgan and Zoe Saldana as Jessica Morgan, along with their children, Nina and Kyle (played by Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby). The movie picks up with Dan Morgan, a former secret agent, facing a figure from his past – played by Kit Harington – who clearly stirs up trouble. One photo shows Wahlberg with Harington in a headlock, hinting at a tense reunion. *The Family Plan 2* will premiere on Apple TV+ on November 21st.
In *The Family Plan 2*, Dan (Mark Wahlberg) intends to give his wife Jessica (Rose Byrne) and their children a wonderful holiday vacation abroad. However, a person from Dan’s past (Kit Harington) unexpectedly appears, forcing the family into a dangerous, international chase. As they travel through Europe, they’ll have to navigate bank robberies, chaotic holiday mishaps, and thrilling car chases—all while trying to stay together.
The Family Plan Was Once Apple TV+’s Most Watched Movie of All Time
With *The Family Plan 2*, Apple TV+ is releasing its first-ever movie sequel. Since launching in November 2019, Apple TV+ has released nearly 50 original films, and the first *Family Plan* movie became its most-watched film in 2023. It held that top spot until early 2024, when *Wolfs*, featuring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, took over as the most popular movie on the platform.
Simon Cellan Jones directed *The Family Plan 2*, and David Coggeshall wrote the script, continuing their roles from the first film. The movie also features performances by Peter Lindsey, Theodore Lindsey, and Reda Elazouar. Filming for the sequel took place between January and March 2025.
Mark Wahlberg is set to star in *The Family Plan 2*, which could be his last movie of 2025. He started the year with a film that critics didn’t like and that didn’t do well in theaters. Earlier this month, he appeared in a heist movie based on the *Parker* book series, directed by Shane Black, but it received mixed reviews on Prime Video. With *Flight Risk* and *Play Dirty* also failing to impress critics, the outlook for *The Family Plan 2* isn’t great, particularly since the first *Family Plan* movie only received a 27% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Family Plan 2 arrives on Apple TV+ on Nov. 21.
