The Elder Scrolls 6 Has More Trees Than Skyrim, Reveals Todd Howard

Todd Howard unexpectedly appeared in a recent video by Any Austin to share the first major update about Elder Scrolls 6 in seven years: the game will feature more trees than its predecessor, Skyrim.

Okay, so it wasn’t much, but honestly, as a fan, even the smallest clue has got us all buzzing! We’re completely diving into theories about where the next game will be set, and even overthinking Todd Howard’s answer just to find more hints. It’s a total speculation frenzy!

For a long time, most fans have expected The Elder Scrolls 6 to take place in Hammerfell, especially after a recent subtle hint. However, a new clue has surprised everyone. Now, some believe the focus on trees suggests the game will be set in Valenwood, a region famous for its thick forests. Others think a comment from the game’s creator actually means Hammerfell is unlikely, since the Redguard homeland is largely desert. Despite the new evidence, many still think High Rock is the most likely location.

Hammerfell Has Trees Too!

Okay, so everyone’s talking about where the next Elder Scrolls game will be set, and I’ve been thinking about Hammerfell. I initially dismissed it, but someone on Reddit – u/EvilRat23 – made a really good point. Apparently, when asked about the setting, Todd Howard seemed to hesitate more when Hammerfell was mentioned. If it was just Valenwood, he’d have answered quickly. But if the game was going to be a bigger area, covering both Hammerfell and High Rock, that hesitation makes total sense because it’s a larger scope. It got me thinking – maybe Hammerfell isn’t so unlikely after all!

So, a lot of us have been thinking about where the next Elder Scrolls game might be set, and there’s this theory going around that makes a lot of sense. The candles in the teaser really feel like they’re referencing Hammerfell, and that mountain range looks suspiciously like High Rock. But honestly, they don’t need both of those regions to have more trees than Skyrim – the idea that Hammerfell is just endless desert is totally wrong. There’s actually a lot more variety there than people think!

As a big fan of the Elder Scrolls world, I completely agree with u/The-Antarctic-Circle – Hammerfell is so diverse! It’s probably the most varied province, and it’s not just the Alik’r Desert everyone always focuses on. You’ve got everything from lush, rainy rainforests to proper mountains with pine trees. Honestly, the part of Hammerfell that borders Cyrodiil feels like it should look more like the Mediterranean coast, maybe something similar to Anvil.

According to u/wingedwild, the south is characterized by jungles and forests near Valenwood. To the east lie mountains, Cyrodiil, and High Rock. The north features snowy mountains similar to Skyrim, while the west is made up of deserts and ocean – making it a very diverse landscape.

Todd Howard might be hinting at two different areas, or he could simply be referring to Hammerfell, which has plenty of diverse environments. Skyrim’s forests weren’t very dense due to the technology available when it was made, so even if Hammerfell has fewer forests overall, the trees within those areas could be more plentiful.

It’s likely Todd Howard was just kidding, and fans are overthinking his comments. Honestly, since it’s been almost ten years without any official updates, I’ll gladly accept even a small hint, like ‘there are a lot of trees,’ at this point.
