I remember when they announced a 3D remake of Trigun, a classic sci-fi anime from the 90s – the reaction from fans was intense! A lot of people immediately dismissed it, but honestly, those who actually gave the show a chance ended up loving it. Now they’re making a sequel, and I’m telling you, it’s the perfect time to see what all the fuss is about and prove the naysayers wrong. You can stream Trigun Stampede for free and experience it for yourself!
Fans of the sci-fi series Trigun will be excited to hear that the sequel, Trigun Stargaze, comes out on January 10th. Before the new series arrives, you can watch all 12 episodes of Trigun Stampede for free on YouTube, starting January 6th. Crunchyroll is hosting a special live watch party, and after the series finishes, there will be an exclusive interview with the creator, Yasuhiro Nightow. The link to the live stream will be available on January 3rd, and the stream begins at 10 am Pacific Time (1 pm Eastern Time) on January 6th. The stream will stay on YouTube until January 13th.
If you haven’t seen Trigun Stampede yet, it’s a fresh take on the classic Trigun story, originally created by Yasuhiro Nightow in manga form and then adapted into a 1998 anime by Madhouse. The show centers around Vash the Stampede, a notorious outlaw with a $60 billion bounty on his head – supposedly for over 100 murders. However, despite his reputation, Vash is actually innocent. Trigun Stampede updates the original anime with stunning 3D animation created by Studio Orange. Here’s the official description:
Vash the Stampede is a happy-go-lucky gunslinger who actually avoids violence, so it’s a mystery why a $6 million bounty has been placed on his head. Reporter Meryl Stryfe and her cynical partner are investigating him, and they’re surprised to find someone who despises bloodshed. However, their investigation soon reveals a dark secret: Vash has an evil twin brother named Millions Knives.
‘Trigun Stargaze’ Releases in January 2026

Many fans agree that while Trigun Stampede isn’t quite as good as the original Trigun, it’s still a fantastic anime. It’s particularly notable for its innovative use of 3D animation. 3D techniques have gotten a lot of criticism in anime recently, with shows like Demon Slayer receiving negative feedback for their implementation. However, Stampede proves that 3D can work well in anime and potentially shape its future, even if it’s unlikely to replace traditional 2D animation.

Despite being a recent release, Trigun Stampede performed well for Studio Orange and Crunchyroll, leading to the announcement of a follow-up series, Trigun Stargaze. Set two and a half years after the events of Stampede, the new series will once again follow Vash and Meryl. The first episode will be available on Crunchyroll starting January 10th. Here’s what the series is about:
Over two and a half years have passed since the devastating Lost JuLai incident destroyed a city and threw the planet into turmoil. Meryl is still searching for Vash, now with the help of her new, younger companion, Milly, and their journey leads them to Wolfwood. Meanwhile, Vash is living in disguise as ‘Eriks’ in a remote town. When he receives a distress call from the ship he considers home, he immediately rushes to defend those he cares about. But just as things seem to be looking up, a powerful and destructive being known as the one-winged angel returns, threatening to plunge the planet back into chaos. As destinies intertwine, the fate of the terrified planet hangs in the balance, leading towards a final resolution.
