Recently, there were reports that DC Studios was going to cancel Paradise Lost, a Wonder Woman prequel set on her home island of Themyscira. James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, responded to these rumors on social media.
As a big fan of James Gunn’s work, I was so relieved to see him post on Threads and confirm that Paradise Lost is still happening! He made it really clear it hadn’t been canceled, and those rumors floating around were way off base. It’s great to know the project is still alive and kicking!
This news is exciting because it confirms that Paradise Lost is still planned, and it also shows DC’s main heroes – Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, known as the “trinity” – will all have their first films released as part of the new DC Universe. This is thanks to Superman‘s 2025 release, and the upcoming films The Brave & The Bold and Paradise Lost.

As a fan, I really appreciated getting to see Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman interact on screen with the DCEU. But honestly, it felt a little rushed. We only got a quick glimpse of their dynamic, and it didn’t allow the movies to explore all the cool stuff from their long history together in the comics. It felt like we were just scratching the surface of what could have been.
It’s particularly intriguing that the DC Universe is introducing these three characters so early in its development, especially since there are currently no clear plans for a Justice League team. This approach could allow the DC Universe to explore a significant and largely untapped area of the comics, potentially fulfilling many fans’ hopes for on-screen adaptations.
