‘The Day of the Jackal’ First Episode to Air on NBC in U.S. Linear Debut

As a connoisseur of gripping dramas that leave me breathless with anticipation, I must say, “The Day of the Jackal” has certainly made its mark. Eddie Redmayne’s portrayal of an elusive assassin slipping effortlessly into disguises is nothing short of captivating. Lashana Lynch’s performance as a tenacious intelligence agent adds the perfect balance of intrigue and intensity.

On December 30th at 10:00 PM (Eastern and Pacific Time), “The Day of the Jackal” starring Eddie Redmayne will make its U.S. television premiere on NBC.

The show, debuting on Peacock and Sky on November 7th, received two nominations for the Golden Globes (in the categories of Best Drama Series and Best Actor in a Drama, for Redmayne). On November 22nd, it was announced that it would continue for a second season.

In modern-day settings, “The Day of the Jackal” movie features Redmayne portraying the elusive assassin known as “The Jackal,” a master of disguise and aliases. Lashana Lynch takes on the role of Bianca Pullman, a tenacious intelligence officer determined to apprehend him. This story is inspired by Frederick Forsyth’s 1971 novel.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that “The Day of the Jackal” has made history! It topped Peacock’s list of most-watched TV shows, and it marked the grandest debut for any new series on Sky. What a ride!

The series was highly recommended by EbMaster’s top critic, Aramide Tinubu, who described “The Day of the Jackal” as an exceptionally captivating drama. In her assessment, she noted that the series is intricately crafted and visually stunning, maintaining a thrilling pace throughout until its conclusion.

Redmayne serves as an executive producer for “The Day of the Jackal,” working alongside writer Ronan Bennett and director Brian Kirk. Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant from Carnival Films, Sam Hoyle from Sky Studios, and Sue Naegle are also involved as executive producers. The original author, Forsyth, acts as a consulting producer, while Chris Hall is another producer on the project.

Completing the ensemble are Úrsula Corberó, Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill, Nick Blood, Sule Rimi and Florisa Kamara.
