I can totally see the connection they’re making. Playing the head of The Orphanage in The Copenhagen Test, Chalfant’s character, St. George, really reminded me of Judi Dench as M in the Bond films – that same authoritative figure pulling the strings. And Chalfant himself seems thrilled to be mentioned in the same breath as such a legend.
Chalfant said it was a huge honor to be included among such a talented group, especially alongside Judy Dench, whom he considers a standout performer. When asked which of Dench’s roles he liked best, he responded with a simple, “Every single one.”
The series is created by Thomas Brandon and Jennifer Yale, and centers on Hale, a first-generation analyst wrongly accused of treason. He soon discovers his own mind and senses have been compromised. To uncover those responsible, Hale must maintain a facade of normalcy while secretly taking risks to find the truth.
Alongside Liu, The Copenhagen Test features Melissa Barrera as Michelle, Mark O’Brien as Cobb, Sinclair Daniel as Parker, and Brian d’Arcy James as John Moira. The main cast also includes Sara Amini, Hannah Cruz, and Saul Rubinek, playing Ellie, Rachel, and Victor.
Before it even officially launched, The Copenhagen Test was already getting positive attention from critics. Currently, Rotten Tomatoes gives the series a “Fresh” rating of 75%, based on eight reviews from verified critics. However, there aren’t enough viewer ratings yet to calculate an audience score.
How The Copenhagen Test Connects to Another Fan-Favorite Genre Series
Yale explained that the show’s success came from balancing the surprising and unusual with a sense of realism. They intentionally combined the sci-fi elements with grounded espionage to create something fresh and unlike anything viewers had seen before, allowing the spy thriller to really stand out.

Yale explained that working on Legion helped him understand how to portray a character living in a reality different from our own. However, he also pointed out that Legion often revisited the question of what’s real, with David Haller constantly doubting his surroundings. He sees parallels between this and the world created around Alexander in The Copenhagen Test, which is reminiscent of The Truman Show.
The Copenhagen Test is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
