Even though Halloween is over, horror fans still have something to look forward to this year! The latest installment in The Conjuring series, “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” will be available on Blu-ray and DVD starting November 25th. A special Limited Edition Steelbook 4K Blu-ray is available for pre-order now at Amazon for $38, along with the standard 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD versions. Fans can also pick up a new four-film collection of the entire series for $55, also available for pre-order at Amazon.
Although this new Blu-ray set is a convenient way to get The Last Rites, keep in mind that other versions of the Conjuring films are available. This includes 4K releases, special steelbook editions of the first movies, and several of the spin-off films – none of which are part of this 4-movie collection.
The first movie, The Conjuring, started the series and featured Ed and Lorraine Warren, investigators of paranormal activity. The film centers around a haunted farmhouse and was inspired by the famous Amityville Horror case. You can find a special steelbook edition of the movie for $30 on Amazon.
In The Conjuring 2, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren travel to England to help a family haunted by a malicious spirit. The movie, like others in the series, is based on a real-life case—the infamous Enfield Poltergeist. While a 4K Blu-ray version isn’t available, you can currently buy The Conjuring 2 as part of a two-movie Blu-ray set with the first film for $16. It’s also included in both an upcoming 4-Film Collection and the existing 7-Film Collection, which features the first three Conjuring movies and four spin-off films.
You can now get the third Conjuring movie, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, on 4K Blu-ray for just $14.43 – it’s usually priced at $35! In this installment, Ed and Lorraine Warren investigate a terrifying case where a demon has taken control of a young boy. What makes this case particularly noteworthy is that it was the first time in American legal history that someone accused of murder tried to claim demonic possession as a defense.
The Conjuring franchise includes the main series of four films, plus two separate spin-off series. One of these spin-offs focuses on the story of Annabelle, a famously haunted doll with a reputation for causing trouble. The movies are based on a real doll that’s now kept locked away in a museum in Connecticut. You can currently find all three Annabelle films together in a Blu-ray collection for $13 (originally $23) on Amazon. This set is also included in a larger 7-film collection featuring the entire Conjuring Universe.
The Nun is a two-part horror series connected to The Conjuring universe. It centers on Sister Irene, portrayed by Taissa Farmiga (sister of Vera Farmiga, who stars in The Conjuring films), as she delves into the mystery of a powerful demon first seen in The Conjuring 2. Both The Nun and The Nun II are available on 4K Blu-ray. You can also find a two-movie DVD set, and the original film is included in a larger 7-film collection featuring all the Conjuring and Annabelle movies.
