The “The ‘Burbs” television series being developed on Peacock has announced that it has selected five main cast members, according to our sources, EbMaster reports.
Actors Jack Whitehall (from “Jungle Cruise” and “The Afterparty 2”), Julia Duffy (“Palm Royale” and “Newhart”), Paula Pell (“Girls5eva” and “Saturday Night Live”), Mark Proksch (“What We Do In The Shadows” and “The Office”), and Kapil Talwalkar (“Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” and “Night Court”) have all been added to the cast for the TV adaptation of the 1989 dark comedy with the same title.
Moreover, Nzingha Stewart, known for her work on “Cross” and “Daisy Jones and the Six,” has joined the production team as an executive producer and is set to direct the initial episode of the series.
The newly introduced cast members will be working alongside the previously announced star, Keke Palmer, in a show that secured a direct-to-series deal on Peacock back in September 2024.
In modern suburban life, the TV series titled ‘The ‘Burbs’ centers around a young couple (Palmer and Whitehall) who find themselves living in the husband’s childhood home against their will. However, their peaceful existence is disrupted when a mysterious new neighbor arrives next door, revealing long-hidden secrets of the cul-de-sac and unleashing dangerous perils that shatter the idyllic image of their seemingly tranquil neighborhood.
I, as a follower, am set to rework the movie for television broadcast, also serving as executive producer. Palmer will join me in the role of executive producer, in addition to their acting part. Seth MacFarlane, under his Fuzzy Door label, will be an executive producer, along with Erica Huggins and Aimee Carlson. Brian Grazer, via Imagine Entertainment, will also executive produce, alongside Kristen Zolner and Natalie Berkus. Rachel Shukert will additionally serve as executive producer. Dana Olsen, the original writer of the film, will collaborate with me on co-executive producing, just like Amy Aniobi, Zora Bikangaga, and Neil Reynolds. UCP is our studio, with Fuzzy Door currently under an overall deal at UCP.
The series will film on the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles, just like the movie.
I’m associated with CAA, United Agents, and Nelson Davis LLP, just like Whitehall. Duffy, on the other hand, is represented by Artists & Representatives and Shelter Entertainment. Pell, much like myself, is managed by WME and Hansen Jacobson. Proksch shares representation with UTA and Yorn Levine Barnes, similar to my case. Talwalkar is under SMS Talent, Industry Entertainment, and Goodman Genow, which is a trio of agencies I can relate to.
