The Boys star Laz Alonso reveals the one line of dialogue he refused to say

I’ve been a huge fan of The Boys since day one, and Laz Alonso, who plays Mother’s Milk, has been talking about something really interesting. Apparently, over the four seasons we’ve had so far – with a fifth one coming up! – there was one line he just couldn’t bring himself to say, and he’s finally shared the story behind it.

The Boys is a shocking superhero show known for pushing the limits of what you typically see on TV.

The Amazon Prime series often uses shocking imagery, including graphic violence – from brutal scenes of whale hunting and exploding heads to a highly sensationalized event called ‘Herogasm’ featuring explicit sexual content.

Despite the show’s willingness to push boundaries, actor Laz Alonso, who plays Mother’s Milk, wouldn’t deliver one particular line of dialogue.

Why The Boys star wouldn’t say “crack full of smack” line

Erik Kripke, the creator of ‘The Boys,’ and Laz Alonso, who plays Mother’s Milk, recently shared a story with LadBible about a time Kripke realized some of his writing didn’t quite fit Alonso’s character.

According to Alonso, Kripke was always open to suggestions and wasn’t afraid to say if an idea didn’t quite fit the character.

He noticed it while reading the line, “I have a crack full of smack when they attack from the back,” and felt the gritty rhyme didn’t fit the personality of his usually principled superhero.

Kripke confirmed this, recalling, ‘He called me and said he didn’t want to say it, so we ultimately removed that line.’

Alonso reacted to the conversation by saying he didn’t expect someone from Harlem to express that viewpoint.

Colby Minifie, who portrays Ashley Barrett in both The Boys and Gen V, confirms that showrunner Eric Kripke is receptive to concerns about potentially crossing boundaries. She says if something makes an actor uncomfortable, communicating that to Kripke will be heard.
