After the shocking events in Gen V Season 2, Episode 7, the show’s creator, Eric Kripke, has shared what needs to happen for the show to get a third season.
Season 5 of The Boys will wrap up the main storyline next year, leaving fans wondering if Butcher or Homelander will survive. It remains to be seen whether the Prime Video show will follow the same path as the original comic books.
However, that’s not the only story expanding from the world of ‘The Boys.’ We’ve already seen spin-offs like ‘Gen V’ and ‘Diabolical,’ and even more are on the way, including the prequel ‘Vought Rising’ and a new series set in Mexico, ‘The Boys: Mexico’.
Everyone is currently focused on the season finale of Gen V, with the showrunner discussing a surprising reveal in episode 7 and the possibility of a third season. Be aware that spoilers follow!
Eric Kripke says Gen V Season 3 depends on one thing
Showrunner Eric Kripke recently told The Wrap that while they have plans for a third season of *Gen V*, its future depends on viewership. Amazon is currently evaluating the show’s performance to decide whether to move forward with it, so watching now is crucial.
The comments came in response to a question about whether recent leadership changes at Amazon would affect the future of the TV show, *The Boys*. Amazon recently appointed Peter Friedlander as its new head of global television, after he left Netflix following a 14-year tenure.
Kripke said he believes things will stay consistent, noting they’ve always had strong support. However, he emphasized the importance of good ratings, explaining that, like traditional television, they need a large audience to ensure the show continues.
We’ve already started planning Season 3 of Gen V and are really excited about it. However, to get it made, we need enough people to watch Season 2 first. The studio is currently looking at the viewership numbers to decide if it’s worth continuing the show.
Look, seriously, don’t wait! If you want to see more of *The Boys* beyond Season 2, jump on Prime Video and start watching *right now*. The showrunner, Kripke, said the same goes for the first season of *Vought Rising* – how well we all watch determines if we get a Season 3. Basically, stream it to keep it alive!
We’re hoping to do a second season, but it depends on a few things. The network has been great and given us a chance, but ultimately, we need to prove the show is popular enough to justify continuing. We’re counting on viewers tuning in!
Kripke didn’t say how many seasons of Gen V to expect, but he hinted that the characters might eventually appear in other TV series, similar to how characters from The Boys have branched out.
He’s excited to continue working on ‘The Boys’ as long as there are compelling stories to tell and new aspects of the world to uncover. He believes there’s a lot more to explore in the show’s universe after season five, without giving away any details.
It feels like anything can happen, with very few rules – I don’t want to reveal too much. I think it would be really exciting to see the ‘Gen V’ students navigating that kind of chaotic environment.
Several actors from the college-based superhero series *Gen V* will appear in Season 5 of *The Boys*. According to creator Eric Kripke, the new season will be set roughly six months after the events of *Gen V*’s second season.
The Boys spinoff shows get updates
Kripke also mentioned some upcoming shows, confirming that ‘Vought Rising’ is officially being developed. While ‘The Boys: Mexico’ is still in early stages, unfortunately, there are no plans currently for another season of the animated spin-off, ‘Diabolical’.
The show set in Mexico is currently in early development, with the first script being written. The creator praised the writer, Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, calling the material very funny, and expressed hope that the show will move forward, but it’s still in the initial stages.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Diabolical will be getting a second season. We definitely tried to make it happen, but the show just didn’t attract enough viewers to justify continuing with it.
We’d all love to continue the show, and the creator, Simon Racioppa, is on board, but we haven’t received official confirmation yet.
Kripke “irritated” after fans work out Gen V Season 2 Episode 7 twist
The showrunner finally explained the big twist from Gen V Season 2, Episode 7: the new dean of Godolkin University, Cipher (Hamish Linklater), was actually Dr. Thomas Godolkin (Ethan Slater) in disguise the entire time.
You know, Kripke actually said we fans are “very smart” for catching all those hints! He was a little frustrated though, because so many of us guessed the big twist before it was even shown on screen. It’s cool to be acknowledged, even if it meant he knew we were onto something!
He admitted he knew fans online were successfully deciphering the clues. While impressed by their intelligence and giving them credit, he also confessed to being a little annoyed they solved it so quickly.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Slater revealed he was surprised by the plot twist. He explained that he’d only received hints beforehand.
People pointed out that I had a bigger role in the final two episodes, with smaller appearances earlier on, and that I was essentially the villain. However, they didn’t fully explain the surprise involving Hamish.
At first, I didn’t know what the show was about, but then Michelle Fazekas explained everything to me in a phone call. After that, I received episodes 7 and 8 to read.
He described Godolkin as remarkably complex, unsettling, and strange, adding that these qualities made the project even more exciting to work on.
You can now watch the first seven episodes of Gen V Season 2 on Prime Video, and the final episode will be available on October 22nd.
