‘The Batman Part II’ Writer Says Sequel Raises the Bar and is “New and Dangerous”

The new movie isn’t due out until 2027 – over a year and a half from now – but excitement is already incredibly high. This buzz was recently fueled by co-writer Mattson Tomlin, who shared an exciting update on his X account that’s generating a lot of anticipation for the film.

We put a lot of effort into creating a story that truly captures the essence of this character, aiming for something fresh and exciting. We set a high standard for ourselves, and I’m eager to share it with audiences and hear what they think. This film is deeply meaningful to me personally.

Everyone is excited about The Batman Part II, but DC hasn’t revealed much about it yet. Robert Pattinson first played Batman in 2022, but development of the sequel didn’t really gain momentum until last year, moving it beyond just rumors and online speculation.

Recently, Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan have joined the cast. However, Zoë Kravitz won’t be returning as Catwoman, and Cristin Milioti, who played Sofia Falcone (The Penguin) in the previous film, also won’t be in this movie. Colin Farrell has hinted that his version of The Penguin, Oz Cobb, will make a brief cameo. Barry Keoghan is also expected to reappear as the Joker, following his short appearance in the first movie.
