The Batman 2 Villain Update Backs Up DC Movie Rumor

A recent report supports a popular rumor about a possible villain in the next Batman movie, the sequel to The Batman.

What’s the newest The Batman 2 villain update?

According to reports from insider Daniel Richtman, DC Studios is searching for a well-known actor to play a male villain in the next installment of the series. While the specific actor hasn’t been revealed, they are reportedly targeting a major star for the role.

A recent report supports a rumor from last week about a potential new male villain in the movie. Jeff Sneider of The InSneider first mentioned this possibility, suggesting that “another male villain” might appear. He specifically named Doctor Arkham as a possible candidate.

The report came out around the same time casting news started appearing in October. PopFilm, known for previously revealing cast members for Peacemaker Season 2 like Joel Kinnaman and Kumail Nanjiani, says Tobias Menzies, from The Crown, is being considered to play Amadeus Arkham in The Batman Part II.

The name “Arkham” appeared briefly in the 2022 film The Batman, when The Riddler was sent to Arkham State Hospital after his capture. It’s currently unclear what the plot of The Batman Part II will be, or how many villains will challenge Robert Pattinson’s Batman.

I’m so excited for The Batman 2! I’ve heard it’s being written by Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, which is awesome. Thankfully, it sounds like Jeffrey Wright will be back as Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred – they were both perfect! Plus, Colin Farrell was amazing as the Penguin, so I’m glad he’s returning. It’s a bit of a bummer to hear Zoe Kravitz probably won’t be back as Catwoman, but hopefully the story will still be great. They’re starting production this spring, which means we might actually get to see it next year!

The Batman 2 will be released in United States on October 1, 2027.
