The Bachelor And HGTV Are Teaming Up For A New Competition Series Starring Fan-Favorite Alumni, But I’ve Got One Big Question

In its 23 seasons, *The Bachelor* has certainly delivered some unexpected moments, but this collaboration is a real surprise! The popular ABC dating show is joining forces with HGTV for a new competition called *Bachelor Mansion Takeover*. It’s especially interesting considering HGTV has cancelled several shows recently, but I’m excited to see 12 former contestants compete to renovate the famous Villa de la Vina. However, I can’t help but wonder – do these reality TV stars actually have the skills to pull this off?

Okay, so I’m so excited to see who’s competing for that $100,000 on *Bachelor Mansion Takeover*! It’s a really fun group – they’ve brought back some familiar faces alongside some new ones, with a good mix of ages. They even included a couple of past *Bachelor* leads and, naturally, a few people who really know how to stir things up! Here’s a rundown of everyone and which season of *The Bachelor* they were originally on.

  • Dean Bell (né Unglert, Rachel Lindsay)
  • Jill Chin (Clayton Echard)
  • Noah Erb (Tayshia Adams)
  • Allyshia Gupta (Grant Ellis)
  • Tammy Ly (Peter Weber)
  • Sandra Mason (Gerry Turner)
  • Sam McKinney (Jenn Tran)
  • Brendan Morais (Tayshia Adams)
  • Courtney Robertson Preciado (Ben Flajnik)
  • Jeremy Simon (Jenn Tran)
  • Christopher Stallworth (Joan Vassos)
  • Joan Vassos (Gerry Turner)

It makes sense that the people who will be living in the mansion should be involved in remodeling it. I did check to make sure they have the skills needed, and their backgrounds seem promising. While everyone has something to offer, those with construction experience – like Christopher and Sam – will likely be more prepared than those in other professions, such as Noah, who is a nurse, or Courtney, who is a model.

It’s possible we’ll find out everyone has some experience with home renovation. Several contestants already have related skills – Allyshia is an interior designer, Tammy flips houses, Brendan is a roofer, and Jill is an architectural historian, which hopefully means she’ll contribute some unique perspectives.

People whose jobs might not be as useful in this situation include Dean, a startup recruiter; Sandra, who is retired after working as an executive assistant; Joan, a private school administrator; and Jeremy, a real estate investor – it’s still to be determined if his investment experience will be helpful.

These were their original jobs, but it’s likely many have switched careers or become social media influencers since appearing on *The Bachelor*. However, HGTV seems to have prioritized their professional backgrounds when choosing who to cast.

For example, they avoided casting anyone already in a relationship with the current contestants. This means people like Abigail Heringer, who is married to Noah, and Chock Chapple, who is engaged to Joan, weren’t chosen.

The HGTV casting team seemed to be avoiding conflict. They could have easily brought on someone’s former partner – Sam, for example, probably wouldn’t have been thrilled to see Jenn Tran again after their difficult interactions on a previous season. Similarly, Allyshia and Kat Izzo, who clashed on Season 10 of *Bachelor in Paradise* (available on Hulu), would have likely created tension.

It’ll be interesting to see what the TV stars create with these home renovations. Jesse Palmer, as the host of *Bachelor Mansion Takeover*, will guide us through the process, and Tayshia Adams and Tyler Cameron will be judging the results.

My only concern about the new relationship between *The Bachelor* and HGTV is that we won’t see the results on TV until 2026 with *Bachelor Mansion Takeover*. Until then, you can watch *The Golden Bachelor* on ABC Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
