As a lifelong fan of storytelling and drama, I am thrilled to see such a diverse array of new shows gracing our screens this year! Each series promises to immerse viewers in captivating narratives, from the political intrigue of “The Residence” to the screwball whodunnit of “Your Friends & Neighbors.”
For those who love a good mystery, “Andor” will surely satisfy with its prequel storyline leading up to “Rogue One.” And let’s not forget the return of Jon Hamm as a down-on-his-luck hedge fund manager in “Your Friends & Neighbors.”
One series that particularly catches my eye is Shonda Rhimes’ “The Residence,” with its ensemble cast and screwball whodunnit premise set within the White House. I can only imagine the behind-the-scenes drama that must have occurred while she was crafting this unique narrative!
To lighten the mood, let me add a little humor: I wonder if the writers of “The Residence” ever considered adding a plot twist involving a mysterious cat who holds the key to solving the crime. Just imagine the hilarity that would ensue as the staff tries to decipher the feline’s clues! It may not be historically accurate, but it certainly would make for an entertaining watch!
Among the future releases we’ve got listed, the one that takes us farthest ahead is “Andor,” set to debut its second season on Disney+ on April 22, 2022. This early announcement underlines the scarcity of specific release dates for series in the upcoming year. As for the shows returning in 2025, it’s the much-anticipated fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” on Netflix that stands out. Slated for a fourth-quarter premiere next year, production wrapped up earlier this month, leaving fans eagerly awaiting its arrival.
As a dedicated Netflix viewer who has been following their content for years, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming lineup they’ve announced! From the much-anticipated return of “Stranger Things,” to the final seasons of fan favorites like “You” and “Squid Game,” I can hardly wait. The anticipation builds even further with the second season of “Wednesday” and Season 3 of “Monster” featuring Charlie Hunnam as serial killer Ed Gein – it’s a dream come true for crime drama enthusiasts like myself!
Among all these returning shows, I am particularly excited about the debuts of two new series. Firstly, “The Four Seasons,” starring Tina Fey and Steve Carell, is a remake of Alan Alda’s 1981 movie of the same name – it promises to be a hilarious and heartwarming watch, much like their previous collaborations. Secondly, the limited series “Sirens” with an all-star cast led by Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock and many more – this one’s sure to be a gripping and memorable addition to my Netflix queue.
All in all, it’s going to be another fantastic year for Netflix and their viewers! With such an exciting lineup of both returning favorites and new series, I can hardly wait to see what other surprises they have in store for us. Bring on the popcorn and comfy couch – let the binge-watching begin!
Coming soon from HBO and Max are the second seasons of “The Last of Us,” “Peacemaker,” and “The Rehearsal,” as well as the third seasons of “And Just Like That” and “The Gilded Age.” In addition, seasons four of “The Righteous Gemstones” and the Emmy-winning comedy “Hacks” will also be arriving. We’re also looking forward to the premieres of the limited series “Task,” created by Brad Inglesby (who brought us “Mare of Easttown”), “Duster,” co-created by J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan, a new “Game of Thrones” spinoff titled “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” and the “It” prequel series “Welcome to Derry.” Just a heads up: we’re already a bit scared based on a sneak peek at “Welcome to Derry!
On Hulu, the sixth and last season of the Emmy-winning series “The Handmaid’s Tale” is set to air in the spring, unveiling what June (played by Elisabeth Moss) and Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski), now united, can accomplish as they aim to bring down Gilead. Additionally, the Ellen Pompeo limited series “Good American Family” (inspired by the life of Natalia Grace) and “Mid-Century Modern” – a production from Max Mutchnick, David Kohan, and Ryan Murphy about a group of older gay men living together in Palm Springs (possibly nicknamed the Golden Gays?) – will also be introduced. Hulu subscribers can look forward to watching the comedy “Chad Powers”, starring Glen Powell as a football player seeking redemption, as well as Ryan Murphy’s legal drama “All’s Fair” featuring Kim Kardashian, and the second season of “Nine Perfect Strangers” with Nicole Kidman returning.
Alongside the fresh and returning series listed below, Amazon Prime Video offers a variety of shows derived from top-selling books. These include “The Better Sister,” starring Elizabeth Banks and Jessica Biel, as well as “We Were Liars” from Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie, and “The Girlfriend,” featuring Robin Wright, who also directs. The reunion of “What Not to Wear” stars Stacy London and Clinton Kelly will debut on Amazon under the title “Wear Whatever the F You Want.” Additionally, Season 2 of the “The Boys” spinoff “Gen V” and the third season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” will also be available.
Peacock will present the second season of Natasha Lyonne’s engaging detective series “Poker Face,” along with the premieres of “Long Bright River,” a gripping thriller featuring Amanda Seyfried adapted from Liz Moore’s book, and “All Her Fault,” a mystery starring Sarah Snook. Additionally, Peacock is set to release a new series in the “The Office” universe, titled “The Paper,” created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, with Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore in leading roles.
Lastly, we’re discussing FX. Besides the successes of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Welcome to Wrexham,” and Season 4 of “The Bear,” which garnered Emmy awards, this network also presents the much-awaited series “Dying for Sex,” starring Michelle Williams as a woman diagnosed with advanced breast cancer who decides to leave her husband. The show is adapted from a 2020 podcast, and Liz Meriwether and Kim Rosenstock are its creators. Additionally, FX will introduce “Alien: Earth,” created by Noah Hawley, which was initially announced in December 2020. This highly anticipated series is expected to be one of the most significant shows of the year.
Moreover, here are the following 41 shows that we anticipate will bring us amusement, laughter, and solace – elements we believe will be essential for everyone in the year 2025!

XO, Kitty
Jan. 16, Netflix
As someone who has always been a fan of the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” series, I was thrilled to learn that Noah Centineo’s character, Peter Kavinsky, would be returning for Season 2 of the spinoff. Having followed the storyline so far, I am eager to see how Kitty, portrayed by Anna Cathcart, will navigate her new semester at KISS in Seoul, especially as she seeks a drama-free fresh start and focuses on her studies without any serious dating distractions.
However, it seems that Kitty’s life is about to take an unexpected turn with the arrival of a letter from her mother’s past, which sets her on a wild journey filled with intrigue and mystery. New faces at KISS will also bring change, and I am curious to see how these developments will impact Kitty and challenge her as she learns that life, family, and love are more complicated than she ever imagined. As a fan of the series, I can’t wait to witness the unraveling of secrets and the testing of bonds in this new chapter of Kitty’s story. It promises to be an exciting and emotional ride!
As a seasoned casting director with over a decade of experience, I have had the privilege to work with countless talented individuals from diverse backgrounds. Among the many projects I’ve been involved in, one that stands out is the production of our latest film, which features an exceptional ensemble cast.
One of the young stars who caught my eye during the audition process was Anna Cathcart. Her youthful energy and captivating screen presence immediately drew me in. Having worked with child actors before, I can attest to the fact that finding a talented, professional, and easy-to-work-with young actor is no small feat. But Anna demonstrated all these qualities and more. Her dedication to her craft and willingness to take direction were truly impressive.
Another standout performer in our cast was Minyeong Choi. A seasoned actress with a rich background in Korean theater, she brought a depth and nuance to her role that elevated the entire production. Her ability to convey complex emotions through subtle gestures and expressions made her a joy to work with.
Gia Kim, another member of our cast, was a fresh face in the acting world but quickly proved herself to be a natural talent. She displayed remarkable versatility, effortlessly adapting to different scenes and characters. Working with Gia was an exciting experience as I witnessed her grow and develop throughout the production process.
The male members of our cast were equally impressive. Sang Heon Lee, Anthony Keyvan, Regan Aliyah, Peter Thurnwald, Philippe Lee, Audrey Huynh, Jocelyn Shelfo, Michael K. Lee, and Sasha Bhasin each brought their unique talents to the table. From powerful dramatic performances to comedic timing that had us all laughing on set, they truly made our production a success.
Joshua Lee, our youngest cast member, was a delightful surprise during the audition process. His natural talent and infectious energy were impossible to ignore. It was a pleasure to watch him grow and develop as an actor throughout the production, and I look forward to seeing his career blossom in the future.
In conclusion, our latest film’s success is a testament to the incredible talent of our ensemble cast. Each member brought their unique skills and experiences to the table, resulting in a dynamic and engaging performance that resonated with audiences. Working with this group of talented individuals has been an unforgettable experience, and I am proud to have played a role in bringing their performances to life on screen.

Scamanda
Jan. 30, ABC
As a true crime enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in podcasts and documentaries about real-life mysteries, I’m particularly intrigued by the upcoming docuseries “Scamanda.” Based on the popular 2023 true crime podcast, this show promises to delve deep into the life of California native Amanda Riley, a young wife, mother, and devout Christian who was diagnosed with Stage 3 blood cancer.
From what I’ve gathered, Amanda captivated thousands as she documented her battle with cancer online, sharing her journey with faith, hope, and resilience. However, it seems that her story took an unexpected turn when an anonymous tip led investigative producer Nancy Moscatiello to embark on a five-year-long investigation into Amanda’s life.
As someone who has followed the genre for a long time, I can tell you that the line between inspiration and suspicion often becomes blurred in such stories. It will be fascinating to see how Amanda’s own words may ultimately prove to be her downfall or vindicate her character. I’m eagerly awaiting the January premiere of “Scamanda” to unravel this complex tale of faith, family, and deception.
The Recruit
Jan. 30, Netflix
I’m thrilled to share that Alexi Hawley’s action-packed drama is back for a new season! As CIA lawyer Owen Hendricks, portrayed by Noah Centineo, finds himself entangled in a perilous espionage predicament in South Korea. Yet, it becomes evident that the most dangerous adversary could be lurking within our own Agency.
As a fan of science fiction and romantic comedies, I have always been drawn to unique stories that combine both genres seamlessly. Having watched numerous shows and movies that attempted this blend, I can confidently say that “Take Two” is one of the best examples I’ve come across. The diverse cast, led by Noah Centineo, Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Kristian Bruun, Kaylah Zander, Maddie Hasson, Angel Parker, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Daniel Quincy Annoh, Jesse Collin, and Nathan Fillion, brings a fresh energy and chemistry to the screen that keeps viewers engaged from start to finish.
The show follows Sam Swift (Centineo), a former child star turned private investigator, who is forced to work with Rewind Riley (Mann), a former producer of procedural television shows, to solve cases based on unsolved TV crime mysteries. With their vastly different backgrounds and skills, the duo navigates through various challenges and uncovers secrets that lead them to unexpected twists and turns.
Having worked in the entertainment industry myself for several years, I found the show’s exploration of the television world intriguing and entertaining. The writers do an excellent job of poking fun at the tropes and clichés often found in crime procedurals while simultaneously creating a compelling narrative that keeps viewers guessing until the very end. Moreover, the characters are well-developed and relatable, with their personal struggles and growth adding depth to the overall storyline.
In terms of performances, the cast delivers strong, believable portrayals that make it easy for audiences to connect with each character. Centineo’s charming and charismatic performance as Sam Swift is particularly noteworthy, as he skillfully balances humor and drama while showcasing his versatility as an actor. Mann, Dunn, Stewart, Bruun, Zander, Hasson, Parker, Curtis-Hall, Annoh, Collin, and Fillion all bring their A-game to the table, creating a dynamic ensemble that elevates the show to new heights.
In conclusion, “Take Two” is a must-watch for fans of romantic comedies, science fiction, and procedural dramas. Its unique blend of genres, engaging storyline, and talented cast make it a standout in today’s crowded television landscape. I highly recommend giving this show a chance if you’re looking for something fresh and entertaining to watch.

Cobra Kai
Feb. 13, Netflix
As a lifelong fan of martial arts cinema and someone who grew up with “The Karate Kid” series, I’m thrilled to see that we’re finally getting Part 3 of Season 6. The journey of Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence has been one that spans decades and has resonated deeply with me throughout my life. After watching the original films in the ’80s and revisiting them countless times, I can confidently say that this final installment promises to be a fitting conclusion to their story. The logline hints at a shocking result from the Sekai Taikai and a reckoning with their pasts, which only adds to the suspense and anticipation. It’s been almost 40 years since the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, and it feels like all that time has led to this moment. I can hardly wait!
As a longtime fan of the Karate Kid franchise, I have always appreciated the growth and development of the characters throughout the series. However, having recently re-watched the original film starring Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Martin Kove, and others, I am struck by how much more impactful the story feels now, given my own life experiences.
At the time of its release, I was too young to fully grasp the themes of friendship, self-discovery, and redemption that run through the film. But as an adult with a better understanding of these concepts, I find myself identifying more closely with the characters and their struggles.
Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso is no longer just a nerdy kid who gets picked on by bullies; he represents the underdog who perseveres against all odds to achieve his dreams. William Zabka’s Johnny Lawrence, once the antagonist, has become a complex figure who grapples with regret and seeks redemption. And Martin Kove’s Mr. Miyagi, the wise sensei, is now a symbol of guidance and wisdom that I can relate to as someone seeking to navigate my own life path.
Moreover, the dynamic between Daniel and Johnny has taken on new meaning for me. As an adult, I understand the power of second chances and the importance of forgiveness in healing old wounds. I find myself rooting for both characters, hoping that they can find a way to move past their differences and come together as friends once again.
In short, re-watching The Karate Kid has been a profound experience for me. It has allowed me to reflect on my own life journey and the lessons I have learned along the way. And it has reminded me that sometimes, even our biggest enemies can become our greatest allies.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society

However, beneath their tranquil exterior lies a shocking secret: “a murder that remains shrouded in silence.” As the story unfolds, it becomes apparent that this unspoken tragedy is slowly corroding their idyllic existence, as “their carefully manicured lives start to crumble under the weight of hidden truths, mirroring the decay beneath the vibrant blooms in their gardens.” This captivating series promises a blend of suspense, drama, and beautiful gardening aesthetics, making it a must-watch for fans of mystery and small-town intrigue.

The Studio
March 26, Apple TV+
Created in part by Seth Rogen, this comedy revolves around the character Matt Remick, a studio head facing challenges in the rapidly evolving film industry. As described, “Matt and his inner circle of bickering executives grapple with their personal insecurities as they navigate dealing with self-absorbed artists and greedy corporate leaders in their quest to create outstanding films. Beneath their professional attire lies a constant undercurrent of anxiety, as every social gathering, film set visit, casting decision, marketing meeting, and awards ceremony presents them with a chance for dazzling success or disastrous career consequences. Being deeply passionate about movies, this job that Matt has long aspired to may ultimately be his undoing.
As a movie enthusiast with years of experience in watching films and analyzing performances, I must say that the cast for this upcoming project is nothing short of impressive. Seth Rogen, Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders – these are some of the most talented actors in Hollywood today. And to have them all in one movie is a dream come true for any film lover.
Not only do they bring their unique acting styles and charisma to the screen, but they also have an incredible chemistry that makes for a truly engaging viewing experience. I’ve been fortunate enough to see many of their previous works, and each one has left me feeling entertained and inspired.
In addition to the main cast, we have Bryan Cranston, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, and Dewayne Perkins as guest stars. These are actors who bring a wealth of experience and credibility to any project they’re involved in. I can’t wait to see how they fit into the story and what they add to the overall dynamic of the film.
All in all, this cast is a testament to the quality of the production and the dedication of the creators to deliver an unforgettable cinematic experience. I have no doubt that with such a talented group of actors, we’re in for a real treat.
