The 2025 Housewives’ Rookies of the Year

As a huge reality TV fan, I love that the Housewives Institute has made it a tradition to give an award to the best newcomer each year. We’ve given it out the last couple of years – Monica Garcia won in 2023, and then Bronwyn Newport took it home in 2024, so it’s been interesting to see who really makes a splash. Things got pretty wild after Monica’s win, with that whole rant about ‘receipts’ and calls for her to be fired! But Bronwyn seems to be doing great and is really killing it in her second season, which is awesome to see.

This year, the cast of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City didn’t change, so there are no new faces to consider – and why would there be? The current lineup is already great! Most of the potential candidates came from The Real Housewives of Atlanta and The Real Housewives of Potomac, both of which added several new full-time cast members as part of a refresh. (Only official cast members count, not “friends of” the show.) Newcomer Amanda Frances from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills didn’t make the list because she just appeared in an episode, and a rule – jokingly called the Eileen Davidson Accords – disqualifies anyone appearing so late in the season. Maybe next year! This is all really enjoyable, and I’m already looking forward to doing it again.

9. Angel Massie (The Real Housewives of Potomac)

Angel is quickly becoming known as one of the worst Housewives ever – seriously, she might end up in the same category as Peggy Sulahian, Diana Jenkins, and Quinn Fry. If you don’t recognize those names, that’s exactly the problem! She brings very little energy to the show and doesn’t seem comfortable being a reality TV personality. She’s slow to respond, brings up old complaints weeks later, and struggles to clearly express her feelings. The midseason trailer for RHOP suggests the rest of the season will focus on how poorly the cast trip to Colorado went with her. At least she has a very attractive husband!

8. Brit Eady (The Real Housewives of Atlanta)

This Housewife didn’t really succeed in her role. She constantly complained that the other women wouldn’t connect with her, but Porsha Williams rightly pointed out that she needed to make an effort to get to know them too. Everything she did seemed to go wrong. She quickly threatened Kenya Moore, hosted a poorly planned and underwhelming business launch with no refreshments, and ultimately avoided the reunion where she’d have to explain her behavior. She consistently blamed others for her own failings as a Housewife. The only reason she doesn’t rank last is because she managed to do something many others haven’t: get Kenya Moore off the show.

7. Kelli Ferrell (The Real Housewives of Atlanta)

Despite being new to the group, Kelli is genuinely funny, which is a surprisingly refreshing quality. However, almost everything else about her feels forced or performative – from her brightly colored dog to the branded van – like she’s trying too hard to appear wealthier and more glamorous than she is. Kelli would be much more likable if she relaxed and let her personality shine. She’s relatable with a chaotic personal life, gets along with the other women, and is genuinely funny. If she could just be herself, she’d be a real hit.

6. Rachel Zoe (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills)

Even though she’s only been on a few episodes, she already feels like a natural fit with the cast. I think it might be because I remember her from a previous reality show, or because she’s known Kyle Richards, Kathy Hilton, and Bozoma Saint John for a long time. Either way, she’s come across as genuine and isn’t holding anything back. I predict she’ll rank higher on these lists as the season goes on. We already know she’s a bit wild, and we’re already loving it! I’m obsessed.

5. Shamea Morton (The Real Housewives of Atlanta)

Shamea, who used to stay in the background, has become a key player this season of RHOA, connecting both new and returning cast members. While her personal life is quite complex, she’s proven to be surprisingly confrontational – she even argued with Angela Oakley about her appearance! However, it was her willingness to risk her long-term friendship with Porsha Williams that really showed she was ready for a bigger role. And after publicly disagreeing with Drew Sidora on stage at BravoCon, it’s clear she’s only gaining momentum.

4. The Real Housewives of London

Okay, I know most people haven’t seen it yet, but I have to say, this was the best first season of any Housewives show I’ve watched in ages! Amanda Cronin was a total standout – delightfully delusional, honestly. And seeing Juliet Angus back was perfect; she brought all the pettiness. Panthea was obsessed with the tea, Juliet’s fashion choices were…questionable (even worse than Gizelle’s sometimes!), Karen brought the serious money, and Nessie? Well, she just showed up as herself, which I appreciate. It’s such a great group of women and they delivered just the right amount of drama. I’m already counting down the days until they start filming season two and head ‘back to Paddington, back to Paddington, back to Paddington!’

3. Tia Glover (The Real Housewives of Potomac)

Tia, one of the London Housewives, took a while to make an impact, but she’s proven to be surprisingly direct and isn’t afraid to confront drama when it comes her way. She wisely took the time to understand everyone before picking a side – something more new cast members should do. Unsurprisingly, she’s firmly against Stacey Rusch and doesn’t believe her stories. Tia is a funny, good-natured person who’s much stronger than she initially appeared; her quiet accent initially gave the wrong impression.

2. Stephanie Shojaee (The Real Housewives of Miami)

Stephanie definitely loved to flaunt her money and even tried to win friends with her private plane. Her old-fashioned style was also noticeable. However, despite only being on The Real Housewives of Miami for one season, she left a lasting impression. She immediately challenged Lisa Hochstein’s constant tardiness and then took on Alexia Echevarria and Marysol Patton, giving them the strong opposition they hadn’t faced in a long time. Surprisingly, she’d already reconciled with them by the reunion. Though she could be irritating, she ultimately made the show even more entertaining.

1. Angela Oakley (The Real Housewives of Atlanta)

Angela made a huge impact from the moment she joined the show, and no topic was off-limits – she openly discussed family conflicts, her husband’s infidelity, and her past business mistakes. She seemed to understand that viewers would accept almost anything as long as she was truthful. She wasn’t afraid to challenge even the show’s veterans, like bringing Drew Sidora on a trip Porsha Williams didn’t want her on, confronting Phaedra Parks about a leak, and even pushing back against Andy Cohen when he pried too much into her husband’s past. Everything she did, from her dramatic reunion entrance to her memorable comments to Brit Eady, was instantly iconic. After a standout season, this NBA wife proved she’s a force to be reckoned with.
