That Time Jonathan Scott ‘Accidentally’ Touched John Stamos’ Hair During A Celebrity IOU Renovation (And Was Absolutely Terrified)

A new season of Celebrity IOU is coming to HGTV near the end of 2025, and it’s starting with a familiar face! John Stamos, known for Full House, will join Drew and Jonathan Scott (the Property Brothers) to secretly renovate the home of a friend. The Scott brothers shared stories about working with Stamos, including a funny incident involving Jonathan’s hair.

Over the years, the brothers have welcomed many celebrities onto their show, Celebrity IOU, and have shared heartwarming moments behind the scenes. They’ve seen stars like Halle Berry moved to tears and witnessed Kevin Hart’s kind act towards someone who supported him. There have also been plenty of funny stories, such as playfully teasing Anthony Anderson’s loud reaction. One particularly amusing story involves Jonathan Scott and John Stamos’ hair – Stamos appeared on the show to renovate the home of his close friend, Ken. Jonathan recently told TV Insider:

We were tearing down a structure, and I accidentally clipped his hair. I fully expected to get sued, but he was incredibly kind and just wanted to create something amazing for Ken. Ken himself was surprised we’d even consider helping, and would have appreciated it, but this went far beyond anything we expected.

Let me tell you, things got a little hairy on the set of Celebrity IOU! Thankfully, Jonathan Scott’s playful encounter with John Stamos’ hair didn’t lead to any legal trouble, and I’m really hoping we get to see that hilarious moment in the final episode. Stamos kicks off Season 11 on December 28th, and Drew Scott gave me a peek behind the scenes – they were working on a patio and garage renovation for one of Stamos’ friends, and apparently, there were a lot of laughs. Here’s what Drew had to say:

We’re transforming this garage into a stunning music room. Over the past 70 episodes, we’ve had a lot of celebrities on the show, and they’re always incredibly kind and generous people who genuinely want to help others. You can see that with John – he’s like a big kid at heart – and Ike is the same way. He’s so enthusiastic and one of the funniest people I know. We were constantly laughing so hard during the renovation that we could barely get anything done!

As a total movie buff, I love seeing familiar faces doing unexpected things, and this season of Celebrity IOU is shaping up to be great! It’s always more fun when people can have a good time while working on a project, and apparently, John Stamos and the Scott brothers had plenty of laughs. But he’s not the only star lending a hand – Ike Barinholtz, Eva Longoria, Mario Lopez (still a ’90s icon!), and the incredible William Shatner, who’s still going strong as he nears 95, are all joining in. Jonathan Scott actually said Shatner was one of the funniest celebs from last season, and I can only imagine the fun this time around!

A lot of material was too edgy to broadcast. Some of the jokes were hilarious, but definitely not suitable for all audiences. You know a project is special when people genuinely invest themselves in it – when they really care and want to be involved, even someone like William Shatner, even at 93 years old.

Even though it’s a fun show, Celebrity IOU remains firmly within the family-friendly boundaries of HGTV, much like The Property Brothers. While people may always mix up the twins, you can expect Season 11 to be scandal-free. Hopefully, we’ll still get to see a glimpse of the John Stamos hair mishap in the first episode!
