The latest Terraria update, titled Journey’s End, came out in May 2020, but it wasn’t the absolute final one as initially thought. A few months later, the genuine last version 1.4.1 was launched, but in 2022, it was disclosed that the developers still had some outstanding tasks, resulting in a patch named Labor of Love. However, this isn’t the end of the updates, as shortly after the announcement of the 1.4.5 update was made.

According to current plans, this project is set to be officially launched for the first time in 2025. Originally scheduled for a 2023 release, it has encountered multiple postponements due to delays. The developers announced in November that they wished to refine their work further before launching, pushing the date back to 2025. As the head of Re-Logic studio, Redigit, shared, this project is his top priority.

We are back to work tomorrow and I’ve got one single mission: releasing the final update.

It’s intriguing that he indicated version 1.4.5 may not be the absolute end for updates on Terraria. A player inquired about the number of final updates left, and he responded that:

As an ardent fan, I can’t help but speculate about the future updates of Terraria. Given its past release pattern and the developer’s knack for keeping us on our toes, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if we saw version 1.4.6 or even 1.5 unveiled post the launch of 1.4.5. After all, the mastermind behind Terraria has a mischievous streak, so there’s always a possibility of an unexpected announcement!

Before I pass away, I aim to transfer my consciousness into the realm of Terraria. That way, I can continue to play pranks on gamers in perpetuity.

For certain developers, such actions might irritate gamers, but in the case of Terraria, Re-Logic manages to avoid criticism. This is reasonable since Terraria is an exceptional game that draws in tens of thousands of players on Steam daily. So, they would be ecstatic if their favorite game continued to thrive.
