Fans are getting excited about season four of Ted Lasso, which is currently planned to come out in the summer of 2026. Jason Sudeikis has revealed that Ted will now be coaching a women’s soccer team, and the cast is growing with several new female actors – including at least one who is a skilled soccer player herself.
Jason Sudeikis should consider bringing back one of the original characters from the first season of Ted Lasso as he develops plans for a team focused on women’s soccer. In the very first episode, Ted met a young, passionate soccer fan in Richmond, and revisiting her story could be a great addition.
Ted and the girl first met when they casually played soccer together. She was one of the first people in town to support his new coaching job. They bumped into each other now and then, and in the final season of Ted Lasso, she was shown getting her copy of Trent Crimm’s book about Ted signed.
Shannon, a young and talented soccer player introduced in the first season, could be a strong addition to AFC Richmond Women if Ted were to coach them. She’s passionate about the game and already has a good rapport with him.
Ted Lasso Season 4 Can Bring Back Shannon As A Star Player
Nick Mohammed hinted that season four of Ted Lasso will introduce new characters, but we can also expect more from some familiar faces. Shannon, a returning character, will finally get a larger part in the show. Since the first three seasons centered on the men’s team, she didn’t have much opportunity to participate before, but that’s all changing now.
With AFC Richmond potentially starting a women’s team in season 4, Shannon – played by Shannon Hayes – could be a key player. Considering she was about 16 when the show began, she’s now the perfect age to join as a promising young athlete.
Considering her impressive soccer abilities shown in past episodes of Ted Lasso, Rebecca Welton has the potential to become a key player for AFC Richmond. This storyline would be a satisfying way to bring the series full circle, returning Ted to the beginning of his journey in Richmond, where season one started.
Shannon Made Friends With Ted In Season 1
Season four of Ted Lasso has many loose ends to tie up, but Shannon’s story feels just as crucial as the show’s main plots. After they first met, she and Ted became friends, and she consistently offered him small acts of kindness.
These moments suggested a future storyline where Ted would finally be able to return the favor Shannon had shown him. Season 4 might be when that happens, potentially giving Shannon a chance to showcase her athletic abilities on a real football team.
Ted Coaching AFC Richmond Women Could Ensure Shannon Makes The Team
Let’s be honest, a women’s team for AFC Richmond felt inevitable – it just fit with the world of Ted Lasso, whether as part of the main show or a spin-off. But I’m especially excited because it sounds like Ted is going to be their coach! As a local Richmond fan, that’s fantastic news – it really feels like the show is expanding in a natural and heartwarming way.
Ted knows Shannon well and has personally witnessed her talent for football in casual games. Thanks to his support, Shannon might quickly join the AFC Richmond Women’s team, creating one of the most touching and uplifting stories in the show so far.
