It appears that the chilling horror-thriller series “Teacup” will no longer continue on Peacock beyond its initial season, according to what we’ve discovered.
The series, which drew its origins from Robert McCammon’s book “Stinger,” was initially acquired for direct production by a streaming platform supported by NBCUniversal in 2022. It made its premiere in October 2024.
According to the show’s tagline, it focused on a diverse group of individuals residing in rural Georgia who banded together due to an enigmatic danger, working collectively to stay alive. The main actors for this series were Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, Chaske Spencer, Kathy Baker, Boris McGiver, Caleb Dolden, Emilie Bierre, and Luciano Leroux.
In “Teacup,” Ian McCulloch took on the roles of writer and executive producer. Atomic Monster’s James Wan, Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, along with Francisca X. Hu and Kevin Tancharoen, also served as executive producers. E.L. Katz directed the first two episodes and was an executive producer, while Tancharoen took charge of the final two. McCammon was another executive producer. UCP was responsible for production.
The movie titled “Teacup” was generally well-received by critics when it first came out, earning a 70% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But in her review for EbMaster, Aramide Tinubu stated that it starts off as an intriguing and terrifying storyline, only to veer into science fiction chaos that doesn’t quite land effectively at the end.
Similarly, since Peacock usually doesn’t disclose its viewer numbers, it’s hard to determine the type of audience the show attracted. However, it didn’t manage to crack the top 10 on Nielsen’s streaming chart.
Wan and Atomic Monster continue their collaboration with Peacock, a partnership that’s still ongoing. They are at present creating an unnamed espionage drama for this streaming platform, featuring “Shang-Chi” sensation Simu Liu as the lead. This series received the green light in February 2024 and is now being produced.
