Now that the first season of Taylor Sheridan’s show, The Madison, has ended, everyone is eager to find out what happens next. But don’t expect one familiar face from Season 1 to return in Season 2.
The drama series The Madison centers around the Clyburns, a family who move from New York City to Montana’s Madison River valley following a heartbreaking event. Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox star as Stacy and Preston Clyburn, the parents, while Fox also plays Preston’s brother, Paul.
The Madison Kicked Off With a Major Shocker
The series begins with a shocking event: the deaths of Preston and Paul in a plane crash. The surviving family members must then lean on each other as they cope with their loss. While these characters die early in the show, they continue to appear in later episodes through flashbacks. Russell will return in Season 2, but fans shouldn’t expect to see Fox again, as the actor has stated.
Fox explained that he’s now looking for roles that are engaging but don’t require a long-term commitment, especially after his experience on Lost. He praised the show’s creator, Taylor, saying the scripts were both emotionally powerful and funny, which ultimately drew him to the project.
Fox praised Taylor’s genuine and immersive world-building. He highlighted Taylor’s skill as a storyteller, noting the depth and nuance beyond just the dialogue. Fox was amazed by Taylor’s ability to handle all aspects of the writing himself, something he rarely sees, especially compared to other shows that rely on a team of writers. He found it truly impressive that Taylor writes everything single-handedly.
The Madison Season 2 Has Already Wrapped Filming
Paramount+ hasn’t officially announced whether The Madison will return for a second season. But the new season is already filmed, so an announcement is expected soon. While reviews were somewhat mixed – the show received a 59% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – it became the most popular show on Paramount+ after the first season ended.
The show’s first three episodes became available on March 14th, and the remaining three episodes were released the following week on March 21st. This meant viewers could quickly watch the entire six-episode season, and it’s likely the second season will be released in the same way.
The Madison is streaming on Paramount+.
