As a seasoned Yellowstone fan with countless hours invested into this gripping saga, I can’t help but feel perplexed by the absence of Jamie’s son from recent episodes. It seems that Taylor Sheridan may have misplaced his memory map to the land of family legacies and dynamics!
With only one more episode left before the finale of “Yellowstone,” several key characters are noticeably absent from the storyline.
Absolutely, Travis Wheatley, created by Taylor Sheridan himself, has been included in the storyline. However, two significant characters are yet to appear: Jamie’s son and his former partner, Christina.
Initially, Jamie’s primary storyline revolved around his conflict with the Dutton family versus his biological father, Garrett Randall. To draw Jamie closer, Garrett used Christina, whom Jamie had a child with, and their son as bait.
It’s clear that the concept of becoming a father strongly appealed to Jamie, and he swiftly became integrated into their family life. However, this change led to significant friction between him and his sister Beth, who is unable to conceive children because Jamie made the difficult choice to have her sterilized when she was a teenager.
Yellowstone Season 5 is missing Jamie’s son
It’s peculiar that Jamie’s son hasn’t been seen in recent episodes, considering how significant his role seems to be in Yellowstone, and the fact that this series primarily revolves around themes of legacy and family.
Jamie has been keeping busy alongside Market Equities’ Sarah Atwood and managing the consequences of his orchestrated murder of John Dutton. Additionally, there’s the issue of Christina, who demands that Jamie distance himself completely from the Duttons before allowing him to see their child.
Given that he returned home before Season 5 Part 1, it’s possible she rescinded his visitation privileges for their son, meaning he might not currently be contemplating him. However, Yellowstone enthusiasts definitely are.
A Redditor commented about Jamie’s son and Christina, “Did Taylor Sheridan seem to overlook these characters?” They pointed out Beth saw a car seat in the back of his truck, implying she would take custody. The Redditor added, “I feel like he won’t address that storyline properly, and it really frustrates me intensely.
Someone mentioned that with Costner leaving, the second half of Season 5 seemed to be hastily rewritten and a lot of it was changed, including dropping Beth’s quest for vengeance against Jaime’s son. It’s frustrating, I agree, because it felt like an important plot point that they just let slip.
An additional comment stated, “Sheridan seems more focused on the broader picture rather than details. He scatters numerous plotlines, yet often leaves them unresolved. By the conclusion, these seemingly significant storylines turned out to be anticlimactic and insignificant. I believe they were included primarily for Beth’s frequent emotional breakdowns.
On the other hand, some speculate that the child will reappear in the storyline later on. Considering Beth’s fixation on causing harm to Jamie, a possibility is that she might adopt his son and bring him up according to her own methods, potentially marking a significant shift of power.
“The user believes that the baby may factor into the series finale, and they predict that she will be the one to raise it, according to her plans.
With only two episodes to go, there’s not much time left to wrap these remaining arcs up.
