Being a fan of Twilight when the movies first came out was a unique experience. It meant going to midnight premieres with friends and a parent, obsessing over the soundtracks, and choosing sides – Team Edward or Team Jacob! Interestingly, Taylor Lautner’s wife was a big fan growing up, but she actually preferred the vampires.
Taylor Lautner’s wife, also named Taylor Lautner (they married in 2022), jokingly explained that she was too young to appreciate his physique when he played Jacob in the Twilight films. When asked if she sees qualities in her husband now that remind her of her childhood crush, Edward Cullen, the couple shared the following conversation:
- Tay: “Nothing! I always say I wasn’t into ‘hotness’ yet then.”
- Taylor: “Yeah, like Robert Pattinson isn’t hot…”
- Tay: “There’s nothing Edward about you, which I love.”
Taylor Lautner, known for his role in the Twilight saga, and his wife have very different life stories. Lautner began acting as a child, appearing in films like The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl and Cheaper By The Dozen, and later became famous for the Twilight films. Meanwhile, his wife grew up living what she describes as a typical life in a regular neighborhood. As Lautner explained:
She was eleven, having a Twilight-themed birthday party, while I was out and about, feeling confident in my outfit and physically fit – my image was even displayed on large screens.
Taylor Lautner and her husband met thanks to the actor’s sister, Makena. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Taylor worked long 12-hour shifts as a nurse, but the stress of the job eventually took a toll on her mental health. After being diagnosed with PTSD, depression, and anxiety, she decided to leave her nursing career. Now, the couple co-hosts a podcast together called The Squeeze.

Taylor Lautner is playfully revisiting his fame from the Twilight saga with a new series called Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter. He’ll play a fictionalized version of himself, brought in to help a secret group that hunts werewolves. Plus, a Twilight animated series, based on the book Midnight Sun, is currently in production for Netflix.
The couple recently rewatched the Twilight movies, and Taylor admitted it was a surprisingly emotional experience seeing them as a married couple. While fans will always debate Team Edward versus Team Jacob, it seems the intense popularity of the films actually made it hard for Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson to connect while filming.
It’s clear that Taylor Lautner is now firmly on Team Jacob, and I think it’s nice that she liked him before they started dating, even if she wasn’t completely obsessed with his character at first.
