Tatiana Maslany first gained widespread recognition for her role in the Canadian sci-fi series Orphan Black, which ran for five seasons. The show challenged her to play multiple characters – initially a handful, but eventually more than a dozen – all within a story about unknowingly cloned women. This impressive work made her a popular choice among fans to play She-Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and she ultimately landed the role in the series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Now, Maslany is back on television with another genre-mixing show that promises to be just as captivating as her previous work.
Apple TV+ has become known for its thrilling shows, including hits like Slow Horses, Presumed Innocent, and Black Bird. Tatiana Maslany’s new dark comedy, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, will also feature Jake Johnson, known from New Girl, and Murray Bartlett from The White Lotus. A first look at the series has just been released and is available to watch below.
Though the new show won’t require Tatiana Maslany to demonstrate the same incredible range she showed playing multiple distinct characters, it seems she’ll have the opportunity to highlight the skills that made her so popular in the sci-fi and fantasy genres. Similar to her role in Orphan Black, she may play a character who becomes involved in a complex conspiracy far beyond her initial understanding.
This new trailer arrived at the perfect time, right as the popular HBO murder mystery series is ending. While DTF St. Louis has been a fun, dramatic, and thrilling ride with plenty of laughs, it’s finishing up with its final episode. Many viewers will be looking for something new to watch, and though we have to wait until May for Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, it won’t be long before we have another darkly comedic thriller to enjoy.
This new show is meant to keep Tatiana Maslany’s fans happy while everyone waits to see if she’ll be back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe later this year. Although viewers and critics generally liked her performance as She-Hulk, any superhero show with a female lead unfortunately attracts negativity from a small but vocal group of people. While the show won’t have a second season, actors can always reappear in the MCU in different roles. However, Maslany publicly criticized Disney’s decision regarding Jimmy Kimmel last year, and it’s unclear if that might affect her future with the franchise.
