As a big fan of The Task, I was thrilled to hear about season two! Apparently, Mark Ruffalo’s character, Tom Brandis, is going to have a new adversary, and get this – it’s an actor you might recognize from True Detective! I’m already excited to see how that plays out.
The first season of the HBO crime drama follows FBI agent Tom Brandis and his team as they investigate a string of robberies, bringing them into conflict with Robbie Prendergrast (Tom Pelphrey). Originally planned as a limited series, the show—called Task—was brought back for a second season thanks to overwhelmingly positive reviews and strong ratings.
Details about the second season are emerging, including the addition of Mahershala Ali (from True Detective) as Eddie Barnes, a seasoned DEA agent working in Philadelphia. Barnes will find his team at odds with a new task force led by Mark Ruffalo, who is returning as Tom and struggling to identify his target as the investigation intensifies. Brad Ingelsby, the series creator, is back as showrunner, writer, and executive producer.
