Tangled Live-Action Remake: Sadie Sink & 3 More Reportedly Eyed for Rapunzel Role

Sadie Sink, known for her role in Stranger Things, is among four actresses Disney is considering to play Rapunzel in a live-action remake of the animated film Tangled.

Disney is working on a live-action version of its 2010 animated film, Tangled. The original movie was directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, and starred Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, Zachary Levi as Flynn Rider, and Donna Murphy as Mother Gothel.

Who is being eyed to play Rapunzel in the live-action Tangled remake?

I just read some exciting news! Apparently, Sink, Mckenna Grace, Emma Myers, and Isabel May are all being considered to play Rapunzel in the upcoming live-action remake of Tangled, according to Nexus Point News. I’m really curious to see who they end up casting!

According to a generally trustworthy source, this news is part of a segment covering unconfirmed or developing stories. So, it shouldn’t be considered definite, and details may shift as the movie moves closer to being made.

So, I heard through The DisInsider that Sydney Grace was actually considered for the live-action Rapunzel in the Tangled remake! Apparently, that was happening before Disney put the project on hold a while back. Now, it’s unclear if she’s still being looked at for the part, which is a bummer because I think she’d be perfect!

Scooper Daniel Richtman also appears to be teasing that Sink is in consideration for the role.

Disney paused development of a live-action remake of Tangled earlier this year after their Snow White movie didn’t perform as well as expected at the box office. They restarted the project in October 2025, and reports surfaced that Scarlett Johansson was being considered for the role of Mother Gothel. However, according to entertainment industry insider Jeff Sneider, Johansson has since left the project due to her obligations to The Batman 2.

The live-action Tangled remake does not yet have a release date.
