You don’t have to wait for the new Tangled to hit theaters to see the leads in character.
Disney is planning a live-action remake of its popular 2010 animated film, Tangled. Tegan Croft will play Rapunzel, Milo Manheim will star as Flynn Rider, and Kathryn Hahn will portray Gothel. Michael Gracey is directing, and the movie is currently expected to hit theaters in 2027. Fans can already get a glimpse of what the actors will look like in their roles.
Artist Kode Abdo, known as @bosslogic, recently posted a fan-made poster for a new take on Tangled on Instagram. The poster features Lara Croft and Nathan Drake as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, with designs closely inspired by the original animated film. It shows Flynn smirking at a glaring Rapunzel, both leaning against a tree plastered with ‘wanted’ posters. You can see the artwork below.

A new poster by @bosslogic highlights Pascal, Rapunzel’s chameleon friend. It shows Pascal happily resting on the forest floor, with a strand of Rapunzel’s hair wrapped around him. The artist plans to release another poster soon, possibly featuring the character of Mother Gothel. For those who remember the original movie, Rapunzel was voiced by Mandy Moore, Flynn Rider by Zachary Levi, and Gothel by Donna Murphy.
Disney initially announced a live-action version of Tangled in 2024, but put the project on hold after the movie Snow White didn’t perform well in theaters in 2025. Development resumed when the 2025 film Lilo & Stitch became a huge box office success, earning over $1 billion globally. In January 2026, Disney announced that Croft and Manheim would star as the leads.
Considering Disney’s recent live-action remakes of animated classics, especially those from the early 2000s, this artwork likely gives a very accurate idea of how the actors portraying Rapunzel and Flynn will appear. We’ve already seen this approach with Snow White and Lilo & Stitch, which closely mirrored their animated designs, and early looks at the live-action Moana suggest they’re continuing this trend.
Following the huge success of Lilo & Stitch, Moana is expected to do well when it comes out in theaters on July 10, 2026. The strong box office performance of the animated Moana 2 in 2024 confirms to Disney that this series remains profitable, even ten years after it first began in 2016. The success of Lilo & Stitch, Moana, and the live-action How to Train Your Dragon also suggests good things for Tangled.
Both Tangled and Moana are beloved, original Disney Princess films released in the 2010s, and their upcoming live-action adaptations will naturally be compared to each other. Disney’s approach of making many remakes that closely resemble the original animated films has drawn criticism, but it’s proven to be a reliable way to attract audiences to these new releases.
