Takiya Iijima announced during his Tokyo Game Show 2025 stream that he’s creating a new RPG called Oni Zero Cross, scheduled for release in 2027. While it’s a new installment in the ONI series, it won’t connect directly to previous games. Instead, Iijima is primarily drawing inspiration from his 1995 PlayStation strategy RPG, Sengoku Cyber: Fujimaru Jigokuhen.
Oni Zero Cross is a new role-playing game set in feudal Japan, where ninjas and warriors battle powerful Oni monsters. The main character is Rengoku Fujimaru, who originally starred in the Sengoku Cyber game. Several other ninjas from the 1995 game will also reappear and have important roles in the story.
You can watch a recording of the live stream right here, and the announcement starts at 55:05. Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, the stream was on Konami’s YouTube channel, suggesting they might also publish Oni Zero Cross.
