In December 2024, Nintendo sparked controversy when they unceremoniously removed a tactical RPG titled Triangle Strategy from their eShop without providing clear reasons for the action. This event echoed an earlier incident involving Octopath Traveler, where Square Enix also had to issue a statement regarding its sudden delisting, only to have it reappear in the store after a few months.
Interestingly enough, just as Octopath Traveler was temporarily unavailable for purchase, a tactical RPG has followed suit and then reappeared on the Nintendo eShop. Square Enix officially announced that this game is now back and can be bought once more through their digital platform.
Excitedly speaking here, folks! Guess what? The beloved game, Triangle Strategy, has made its way back onto the Nintendo Switch eShop! I know we’ve all been eagerly waiting, and now it’s finally within our grasp again. So let’s grab our controllers and dive back into this captivating world!

As an enthusiastic fan, I’d share that “Triangle Strategy,” a captivating tactical RPG, was jointly developed by Square Enix and Artdink. Originally released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch in 2022, it unfortunately got removed from the eShop in December 2024. However, Square Enix has reassured us that they are still diligently working to make the game available again for purchase. They’ve promised to keep us updated when the opportunity arises to reacquire this fantastic title.
On January 6th, 2025, Square Enix announced on their official Twitter account that they were keeping their word by re-listing Triangle Strategy on the Nintendo eShop. This update was a thank you to players for their continued support. It’s worth mentioning that the game’s absence from the Nintendo Switch store was temporary and did not affect its availability on PC through Steam, or on VR devices such as the Meta Quest 2, 3, and Pro, which were launched in October 2024.
If you’re new to Triangle Strategy, this tactical RPG offers a distinctive blend compared to popular party-based and strategic games such as Divinity: Original Sin, Fire Emblem, and Baldur’s Gate. Unlike them, it delves deep into political intrigue with numerous betrayals and dramatic death scenes. The narrative commences in Norzelia and unfolds across three significant cities. You’ll come across a variety of unique characters, explore numerous locations, follow multiple storylines and rivalries, and immerse yourself in diverse cultures and traditions. Players can enjoy this engaging experience on PC, VR devices, or Nintendo Switch.
