Publishers New Tales and Asmodee, along with developer Artefacts Studio (known for games like Disciples: Domination, Crown Wars: The Black Prince, and The Dungeon Of Naheulbeuk), have revealed Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent. This tactical RPG dungeon crawler is inspired by the Descent: Legends of the Dark tabletop game. It’s scheduled to launch in Spring 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC/Mac (via Steam).
Taking place a year before the world of Descent: Legends of the Dark, this game combines the best parts of tabletop gaming with the strategy of RPGs. Okay, so this new game, Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent, takes place in the world of Descent, about a year before the main story. Basically, things are really messed up in Terrinoth, and a bunch of new heroes are stepping up to try and fix it. You get to build a team of adventurers and travel around this pretty dangerous world, experiencing a whole new story that adds to everything we already know from the Descent board game. It’s like a prequel, but you’re in it, leading the charge!
Bruno Chabanel, CEO of Artefacts Studio, shared that creating a game within the world of Descent has been a wonderful, yet demanding, task. With ‘Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent,’ the team aimed to recreate the excitement of a classic dungeon crawl board game as a smooth, tactical RPG for PC and consoles. A key feature is the cooperative multiplayer mode, designed to capture the same atmosphere as playing the board game with friends. The game is designed to be accessible for new players, while still offering plenty of strategic depth and options for experienced gamers to explore.

I can play this game however I want – totally solo if I’m feeling it, or grab a friend for some co-op action. Either way, Terrinoth is full of nasty enemies and tough bosses, so I need to learn some serious combat skills and figure out how to combine them to really survive. It’s all about finding those powerful combos!
New Tales CEO Cédric Maréchal shared that this project is a perfect fit for the company, combining compelling characters, engaging gameplay, and established intellectual property.
