Nightdive Studios has launched a big update for the System Shock remake, now available on all platforms. This update makes the features and content consistent across all versions and notably boosts performance on the Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2.
This update will allow the Switch version of the game to run at up to 900p when docked and 720p in handheld mode, targeting 30 frames per second. The newer Nintendo Switch 2 version will offer even better graphics, supporting up to 1440p at 60 frames per second when docked and 1080p at 60 frames per second in handheld mode. For more details about the project and remake, check out my interview with Nightdive Studios and my review of the game on the Switch 2, both available here.

Nightdive Studios has released an update for their critically acclaimed remake of System Shock on all platforms. This update ensures consistent performance, content, and features across all versions, with especially noticeable improvements to performance on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
Nightdive Studios’ System Shock is a highly praised remake of the classic 1994 sci-fi action game. It keeps the original gameplay while adding modern HD graphics, improved controls, a redesigned interface, and completely new audio. Players explore Citadel Station, facing off against a horde of dangerous, mutated creatures controlled by the menacing AI, SHODAN. To survive and escape, they’ll need to use a mix of stealth, smarts, and powerful futuristic weapons, all while solving puzzles and uncovering secrets.
The new System Shock Parity Patch v2.1 brings bug fixes and improvements to the game on all platforms. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 players will see better stability, visuals, and performance. On the original Switch, the game runs up to 900p when docked and 720p in handheld mode, targeting 30 frames per second. The Switch 2 version offers a sharper experience with up to 1440p resolution at 60fps when docked and 1080p at 60fps handheld. Switch 2 players can also take advantage of unique features like Joy-Con 2 mouse support. For a complete list of changes, check out https://nightdivestudios.com/news.
“System Shock Version 2.1, the ‘Parity Patch,’ marks nearly ten years since the System Shock Remake project began,” said Justin Khan, producer at Nightdive Studios. “This patch represents countless lessons learned, the dedication of a small but determined team, and our commitment to refining the experience across every platform. Thank you for sticking with us through the ups and downs of that journey.”
