Will the next Nintendo Switch cost more? Nintendo has suggested a price increase is possible, but currently, they think they can still make a good profit at the existing price, so it probably won’t happen.
So, Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, just talked about their plans, and things seem pretty solid right now. But he did mention that if something really unexpected happens – like new taxes or some other big surprise – they might have to re-evaluate everything. Basically, they’re prepared for anything, but hoping for the best!
Nintendo’s president, Furukawa, explained that while some materials used to make the Switch 2 are becoming more expensive, the manufacturing process itself could become cheaper as production increases.
We don’t anticipate the recent increase in material costs will significantly affect our profits. We’re committed to maintaining our current level of profitability.
Nintendo increased the price of the original Switch earlier this year and suggested the next model, the Switch 2, might also cost more. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S also became more expensive in the US this year, partly because of tariffs put in place during Donald Trump’s presidency.
The Nintendo Switch is on track to become Nintendo’s most popular console of all time, with over 154 million units sold. And the Switch’s successor is also proving incredibly popular, reaching over 10 million sales in just four months.
