
As of September 30th, the Nintendo Switch 2 has already sold over 10 million units, making it Nintendo’s most successful new console launch in its history for the first four months. Because of this strong performance, Nintendo recently announced that demand for the Switch 2 has been higher than they predicted.
The company has apologized to customers who experienced delays in getting a Switch 2 because of limited stock in certain areas. This doesn’t seem to be an issue in the US, where the console has been easy to buy. Nintendo understands the frustration caused by these shortages and has assured customers they are working to increase production and meet the current demand.
As a huge Nintendo fan, I was so excited to hear they’re saying things are going well with the new system – it’s already out there with a lot of people around the world! They seem pretty confident about the upcoming holiday season, which is great. But, like they warned before it launched, it’s been tough to keep up with how many people want one. They’re still dealing with shortages in some areas, and they’ve apologized for that, which I appreciate. They’re promising to keep working hard to get enough consoles out there so everyone who wants one can get their hands on it, and honestly, that’s all I want to hear!
It wasn’t surprising that the Switch 2 launched successfully, even with a higher price tag, because many people were eagerly waiting for it. However, an analyst believes the real test will come during the holiday shopping season, when buyers who are more focused on price will be making their decisions.
Nintendo is feeling confident about the upcoming Switch 2 and now expects to sell 19 million units this year, an increase from their earlier estimate of 15 million. While they’ll continue selling the original Switch, sales are predicted to decrease slightly, from 4.5 million to 4 million units. On the software side, Nintendo is predicting a significant jump in game sales, raising their forecast from 105 million to 125 million for the year.
