As a fervent admirer of gripping, character-driven series, I am absolutely thrilled about the renewal of “Sweetpea” for a second season! Ella Purnell‘s portrayal of Rhiannon Lewis, an underdog who snaps and takes matters into her own hands, has been nothing short of mesmerizing. The fact that audiences around the world have related to our quirky Rhiannon is truly special.
The popular dark comedy-thriller show, “Sweetpea,” featuring Ella Purnell from “Fallout,” has been granted another season by both Sky and Starz.
The show, titled “Purnell portrays Rhiannon Lewis, a young woman often overlooked and undervalued, who eventually reaches a breaking point and decides to exact revenge on those who have wronged her. This series is jointly produced by See-Saw Films and their Fanboy division, in collaboration with Sky Studios. The second season, as suggested by the synopsis, will find Lewis back, seeking vengeance as her hidden killer instincts intensify, leading her down a darker path than ever before.
Being involved in Rhiannon’s transformation story has been a significant milestone in my career. It’s heartening to observe fans connecting with and understanding our unique character, Rhiannon, including her intricate layers. This connection feels genuinely unique,” expressed Purnell, who also serves as an executive producer. “I am eager for the audience to witness what’s next for Rhiannon. Keep an eye out!
Sky Studios entrusts NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution with the global distribution of the show “Sweetpea” for international sales.
Meghan Lyvers, executive director of original scripted at Sky U.K. and Ireland, praised the show “Sweetpea” as a highly original, character-driven series headlined by the exceptional Ella Purnell. She stated that audiences worldwide have been captivated by this unique, darkly comic thriller and are eagerly anticipating what happens next to the character Rhiannon.
Alison Hoffman, president of Starz, commented: ‘Ella Purnell delivered an exceptional portrayal that encapsulated a woman’s struggle to find her voice. We are delighted by the positive feedback from both critics and viewers.’
Producer Patrick Walters, affectionately known as ‘Sweatpea’, stated: “Working on Sweetpea has been an electrifying rollercoaster journey, and we’re thrilled to be teaming up once more with Sky Studios. It’s fantastic to have Starz as the series’ American distributor for Season 2. The character Rhiannon is already shaping up to be iconic, and See-Saw and Fanboy are eager to revisit the show’s world alongside the talented Ella Purnell.
In addition to resuming her violent character in “Sweetpea,” Purnell is also preparing for season two of Amazon’s popular video game adaptation “Fallout.” During an interview with EbMaster in October, she mentioned that filming would take place in 2025; however, she was unsure about the direction the story would take.
She admitted she’s read nothing, leaving her feeling underprepared. Her only preparation at the moment is recognizing that in six months she’ll need to run up a hill 500 times, and her effort so far is simply attempting to prepare herself for this challenge without triggering an asthma attack.
