Nate Moore, a creative contributor to the films Black Panther and Captain America, competed on Survivor 49 while deliberately keeping his work on those movies a secret. He now believes this decision might have led to his elimination from the game.
Nate Moore regrets not telling Survivor 49 costars about his Marvel projects
Nate Moore, a producer of major Marvel films, joined Survivor 49 with a background that would have immediately set him apart. However, he decided to keep his Hollywood career a secret from the other players. He now thinks that might have been the wrong choice.
Yes, I did,” Moore responded when asked if he’d thought about sharing his work on Marvel comics. “Looking back, it’s easy to say what I should have done, but at the time, I worried that if I revealed my connection to Marvel, no one would offer me a big financial deal.
Moore shared that hiding his profession created distance between him and the other contestants. He couldn’t join in on casual conversations, like discussing Marvel movies, because he had to keep his job a secret.
He explained that he had to keep details about his work to himself, as he often doesn’t discuss what he does. He mentioned that Rizo is a big Marvel fan, and during a conversation about favorite Marvel movies, he found himself quietly realizing he’d contributed to many of them, thinking to himself, ‘I worked on that one too!’
In the beginning of Survivor 49, Moore quickly made an impact. He joined forces with Savannah Louie, Rizo Velovic, and Shannon Fairweather on the Uli tribe, and used his experience in team building to help them work together.
When Shannon, a crucial ally, was surprisingly eliminated, the game changed completely. A lack of clear communication and cracks within alliances left Moore exposed, and even though he’d been playing strategically, he became the obvious and easy person to vote out.
Moore confessed he occasionally regrets not sharing more about his work with Marvel. He wonders if being more open about it would have opened up new opportunities and allowed him to build stronger relationships with the company.
