Carrie Ann Fleming, a popular actress known for her roles in shows like Supernatural and iZombie, has died at the age of 51. According to Variety, who confirmed the news with her Supernatural co-star Jim Beaver, she passed away on February 26th due to complications from breast cancer. Fleming and Beaver appeared together in three episodes of Supernatural, including two where they played characters named Karen and Bob Singer.
I remember first noticing Ellen Fleming way back in the mid-90s, though you probably wouldn’t have known her name at the time. She had a couple of small, uncredited parts in stuff like Viper and The Sentinel. But I really remember her from Happy Gilmore – she played Donna, the girl Adam Sandler’s character tries to win back in the most ridiculous way possible! He serenades her through an intercom with that Exile song, “Kiss You All Over.” She’s a Canadian actress, originally from Nova Scotia, and that role definitely stuck with me.
Throughout the 2000s, Fleming began appearing in popular horror projects like Bloodsuckers, Masters of Horror, and The Tooth Fairy. She also started gaining recognition among superhero fans with a 2006 guest spot on Smallville, starring Tom Welling – a show that paved the way for many of The CW’s later superhero series. Later, she made appearances in two episodes of Supergirl, starring Melissa Benoist.

Though not a major character, many fans remember her for playing Karen Singer on Supernatural. She first appeared in a couple of episodes, dying after a demon possessed her – Rufus Turner managed to exorcise the demon, but Karen succumbed to her injuries. However, she surprisingly returned in Season 5 when Death briefly brought her back to life at Bobby’s house. Sadly, Bobby eventually had to let her become a zombie again and rebury her. She reprised the role once more in Season 7, appearing within Bobby’s mind as he tried to evade a reaper and death.
Rose McIver is also well-known for her role as Candy Baker on The CW’s iZombie. Candy started as a funeral home employee and became a zombie after a brief encounter with the show’s villain, Blaine DeBeers. Throughout the show’s five seasons, she appeared in 12 episodes, bringing a memorable and unique take on the show’s zombies and creating many fan-favorite moments.
