Superman 2: Man of Tomorrow Will Reportedly Include This Familiar Batman Character (Rumor)

There’s talk that a well-known character from the Batman universe will be featured in the upcoming DC Studios film, Superman 2: Man of Tomorrow. James Gunn’s DC Universe officially launched this summer with the theatrical release of Superman, followed by Creature Commandos and the second season of Peacemaker on HBO Max. These projects mark the beginning of a new era of superhero stories from DC.

James Gunn’s story of Superman will continue in 2027 with the release of Superman 2: Man of Tomorrow. The film will feature characters returning from the first movie, alongside new faces that fans will recognize from other parts of the DC Universe. There’s even a possibility a character connected to Batman, who already exists within the DC Universe’s established story, will make an appearance.

A recent report from MyTimeToShineHello indicates that Sasha Bordeaux, portrayed by Sol Rodriguez, will be back in the upcoming Superman movie. Rodriguez first appeared as the DC character in season two of James Gunn’s Peacemaker, where she played an ARGUS agent working alongside Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo).

The series showed Sasha had hidden cybernetic enhancements beneath her skin, revealing she was more than she appeared (you can find more details about Sasha Bordeaux’s new abilities here).

Bordeaux is a comic book character whose story is surprisingly linked to Batman. She first appears as one of his bodyguards, and they eventually become romantically involved. Later, she sacrifices herself to protect Batman when they are falsely accused of murder.

After spending time in prison, Bordeaux transforms into the powerful hero fans recognize in the DC Universe. While incarcerated, she’s approached by Checkmate – the agency recently featured in Season 2 of Peacemaker – who stage her death and recruit her to work for them.

Once she became second-in-command, she betrayed the Checkmate team, siding with the OMAC cyborgs and getting the cybernetic upgrades that were hinted at when the character first appeared in the DC Universe.

Rodriguez is joining the cast of Superman 2, which already includes David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, Isabela Merced, and Frank Grillo. The film, led by DC Studios head James Gunn, will feature Corenswet as Superman and Hoult as Lex Luthor, who will have to team up when a new, currently unknown villain appears. Superman 2: Man of Tomorrow is scheduled to release in theaters on July 9, 2027.

How Will Shasha Bordeaux Factor into Superman 2?

Fans excited about Sol Rodriguez’s performance as Sasha Bordeaux in Peacemaker Season 2 will be pleased to hear she’s joining the cast of Superman 2: Man of Tomorrow, bringing her character back into the DC Universe.

We don’t know many details about James Gunn’s next superhero movie yet – like who the main villain will be – but fans can start to get some ideas based on the possibility of Bordeaux being in the film.

With Bordeaux appearing after the events of Peacemaker Season 2, it’s likely we’ll see other actors from that show return for roles in the new DC Universe films. This especially includes the members of the Checkmate team, who were first shown at the end of Peacemaker‘s second season.

The finale of James Gunn’s 2025 series on HBO Max showed characters including John Cena’s Christopher Smith (now imprisoned in another dimension), Danielle Brooks’ Leota Adebayo, and Jennifer Holland’s Emilia Harcourt forming the secret organization that would become Checkmate.

Because Bordeaux appears in the new movie, it’s probable that the Checkmate organization will also be featured in the story, even if only briefly.

It’s possible this is where we’ll see Rodriguez’s character encounter Bruce Wayne from the DC Universe. He might recruit her to work with his security team, which would explain her connection to Gotham City, just like in the comic books.
