As a huge DC fan, I was so excited to finally get a better look at the Supergirl movie! We got a glimpse of Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, and it’s awesome seeing her character set up in Superman before her own solo film, which is part of the first chapter of the new DC Universe, ‘Gods and Monsters’. I can’t wait to see what they do with her story!
DC Studios has released a sneak peek of the upcoming Supergirl movie, which is the next big film in the DC Universe. A full trailer will be available on Thursday, December 11th. You can watch the teaser footage below.
DC Studios revealed the first poster for Supergirl, featuring actress Alcock as the character. The poster’s tagline is a playful twist on the classic motto: “Truth. Justice. Whatever.” You can see the poster below.
James Gunn revealed on December 7th that a first look at the Supergirl movie would be coming soon. They used a similar strategy last year with Superman, releasing a short teaser before the complete trailer.
Millie Alcock will be the second actress to lead a Supergirl movie. Helen Slater played the role in a film released in 1984, which was connected to the world of Christopher Reeve’s Superman. The new Supergirl movie, directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, is scheduled for release in 2026.
The upcoming Supergirl movie is based on the comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, which was published in eight parts from 2021 to 2022. The comic received high praise and was even nominated for an Eisner Award. When James Gunn first announced the film’s development, copies of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow quickly became unavailable.
Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman in DC films, is joining the cast of Supergirl as Lobo, the popular DC bounty hunter. Krypto the Superdog, who first appeared in the 2025 film Superman, will also return for this new movie.
The movie Supergirl is scheduled to come out on June 26, 2026. A first look at the trailer will be released this Thursday, December 11.
