Marketing for the upcoming Supergirl movie is now underway! Warner Bros. and DC Studios have revealed a new poster and a countdown timer for the trailer. Supergirl is the next film in James Gunn’s DC Universe after the success of Superman. A quick glimpse of Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El was included, hinting at her leading role in the movie, which is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
A new poster for the upcoming Supergirl series has been revealed on the official X (formerly Twitter) account, prominently featuring actress Alcock. The poster’s tagline is “Truth, Justice, Whatever.” A link in the post leads to the Supergirl YouTube channel, where fans can find a countdown timer for the trailer’s release. The trailer will premiere on December 11, 2025, at 8:59 a.m. Pacific Time / 11:59 a.m. Eastern Time. You can view the poster below.
Craig Gillespie, the director of films like I, Tonya and Cruella, is directing Supergirl. The screenplay is written by Ana Nogueira, who is also working on the new Wonder Woman and Teen Titans movies for the DC Universe. The film is based on the comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. The cast includes Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham. Jason Momoa, known for playing Aquaman, will be playing Lobo in this movie.
‘Supergirl’ Is Following ‘Superman’s Marketing Strategy
The marketing campaign for Supergirl is following a similar path to Superman. James Gunn’s film revealed its first poster and trailer in December 2024, coinciding with the releases of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Mufasa: The Lion King. The Supergirl trailer is planned to be shown before screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. However, Supergirl got a slight early boost when Gunn released an initial teaser poster in July 2025 following her brief appearance in Superman. This poster cleverly altered Superman’s famous tagline, “Look Up,” crossing it out with graffiti to say “Look Out.”
The DC Universe will see the release of Supergirl in 2026, followed by the HBO series Lanterns later that summer. A Clayface movie is scheduled for theatrical release on September 11th. However, the future of the DCU is now uncertain due to Warner Bros. potentially being bought by Netflix or taken over by Paramount Skydance. Despite this, Warner Bros. and DC Studios plan to continue with their current projects, and Supergirl will likely receive increased focus.
