Super Mario Movie 4K Steelbook Restocked For $28, And A New Limited Edition Releases In March

On March 4th, there’s a new 4K Blu-ray release for The Super Mario Bros. Movie coming in a special steelbook case, available exclusively at Walmart. This Limited Edition Steelbook can be preordered now for $35, but given the popularity of these steelbook releases from Walmart and the fact that we’re dealing with the biggest video game movie adaptation ever made, it’s expected to sell out before it even ships.

It’s possible that the reason the movie merchandise hasn’t run out yet is because Walmart also offers The Super Mario Bros. Movie’s Power-Up Collectible Steelbook. This edition has been sold out almost entirely since its release in June 2023, except for occasional brief restocks. As of now, only Walmart has the Power-Up Steelbook Edition available for purchase, and it costs just $28.

  • Original 2023 release with Super Mushroom Steelbook — $28 | Available now at Walmart
  • New 2025 Walmart-exclusive with Question Block Steelbook — $35 | Releases March 4 at Walmart
  • 4K Blu-ray standard edition — $14 | Eligible for 3 for $33 4K Blu-ray promo at Amazon (Expires Jan. 20)

You have to pick which one you prefer more between the new steelbook featuring Question Blocks or the old steelbook with Super Mushrooms. Alternatively, you could follow my example and get them both. It’s important to note that the standard 4K Blu-ray edition (in a plastic case) is currently priced at $14 on Amazon, and it qualifies for their 3 for $33 promotion on 4K Blu-rays until January 20.

In the upcoming months, there will also be a special edition release of Super Mario’s age-old rival – it’s not Bowser, but rather Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Preorders are now available for this Limited Edition Steelbook on Amazon and Walmart. As of yet, no official release date has been announced, however, you can reserve your copy of Sonic 3 in stunning 4K resolution and receive a collectible steelbook case for $43.49 at Amazon or $45 at Walmart.
